REVIEW: Japanese immersion daycare with extremely caring and attentive staff. Good staff to kid ratio. I would send my child here again! I've been more and more impressed over time.; Amenities: Has outdoor space, Has after-school options, Has early morning hours, Provides meals,;Yoko's Daycare or other day care recs in South Slope/Greenwood?
Our daughter is at Yoko's 2 days a week and we all love it. She started there just after turning 2 this fall and the kids there are really sweet and the care givers are great. We love that they have a big back yard and don't have to travel to play outside.Review from the Spring 2022 Early Childhood Education Survey
Location: 205 20th Street, Brooklyn Type of facility: Daycare Review: We have both kids (L/3yo and P/1yo) at Yoko's, both have been with her at various locations since they were babies. We love Yoko's and can't imagine sending them anywhere else. The staff are so caring, their communication is amazing, and both kids seem so happy and exicted to see their teachers every morning. Our oldest has a growing Japanese vocabulary and sings to himself in Japanese in the bath and on car trips. He's learning numbers and letters, as well as all sorts of important things about how to be in a community--looking out for the younger kids, helping to clean up, etc. And our youngest is well fed, well rested, and happy every day at pickup. We love all the opportunities for her to play with other babies, hang out in the backyard, etc. We would absolutely send both kids to Yoko's again, and would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone considering it as a daycare option. Whether or not you are looking for a Japanese-language program, it is a truly special place and we are so grateful to Yoko and her amazing staff for taking such good care of our kiddos. What amenities does the facility have? Has outdoor space, Provides meals What would you change about the program, if anything? Nothing at all! Is there anything you would like to add about how the school is handling the pandemic? Yoko's has taken great care to keep the kids safe. Staff members are careful about mask usage and about helping (age appropriate) kids to wear their masks consistently. Communication has been great, and we felt very safe sending our kids there.Yoko's Daycare : Availability for infants and toddler in 3 months to 3 years old
I just want to say personally that we had such a wonderful experience with our daughter at Yoko’s. It was truly formative and I feel so grateful that she got to attend Yoko’s and that all their wonderful teachers, and Yoko herself and the lovely children there were a part of her life during those early years. I cannot recommend enough!Yoko's Daycare
My daughter has been going here full time for about four months, starting at 6 months old. Yoko and everyone who takes care of the children are wonderful and kind. The facility is organized and clean with lots of space for the kids to play. There's a great back yard as well. They are great at communicating with lots of updates and pictures. I was very comfortable leaving her there when I went back to work. She seems to be thriving and is happy to go there every morning.Review from the 2020–2021 Daycare, Preschool, Pre-K, and K Survey
Review: We started sending our daughter to Yoko's daycare when she was only 7 months old. She recently switch to a pre-K school because she will be turning 3 soon. She really thrived at Yoko's daycare because the teachers are so warm, kind, and loving. They have an amazing 2 to 1 ratio of teachers to babies. Throughout her time there she also became bilingual! She now speaks both Japanese and English. Whenever I dropped her off I felt good knowing that she was safe and happy. We sent her there again because her preschool is closed for a holiday and she immediately ran up to her favorite teacher and gave her the longest hug. We feel so lucky we were able to find an amazing daycare for her. She is our second child and we wish we knew about Yoko's for our first because he did not have the same experience as our daughter. Amenities offered: Has outdoor space, Has after-school options, Has early morning hours What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? Nothing Is there anything you would like to add about how the school handled the pandemic? They handled the pandemic very well. They were wearing masks occasionally before the pandemic because it is a part of asian culture. They were able to stay open the whole time during the pandemic and we sent our daughter there the whole time. They have never had an outbreak.Review for Yoko's Daycare
We're very happy with Yoko's Daycare. Our son goes to the location on 19th St, and it's been successful for him and us. We started him there 2 days a week when he turned 2 because my husband wanted to reinforce Japanese, which he speaks to him at home. We stayed at the daycare with him the first day, for just a few hours. The lead teacher, Nao Sensei, was very good at drawing him into activities and helping him feel part of the group. There was some crying at drop-off in the second week but since then it's been smooth sailing. Now he gets excited when I tell him it's a daycare day and asks to go even when it's not. He loves the food, and I like that they send photos throughout the day so I can see what he's up to. I also like that even though the inside space is small, he gets to play outside in the backyard every day the weather is nice. Now if only he would use silverware at home the way I know he does at daycare.....2019-2020 Year Review
We love Yoko's! Our son has been there since he was 4 months old. He has so much fun there everyday and it feels like a community. They got him on a nap schedule, helped him learn how to eat solid food, and I love that they upload photos during the day I can look at while at work. I've recommended Yoko's to many friends and would definitely do it again. They are communicative and understanding, and the tuition rate is very reasonable given they are open 8am-6pm. They speak Japanese to the kids during the day, which is a bonus to us. … About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Provides meals2019-2020 Year Review
Our son started at Yoko's when he was 5mo and we couldn't be happier. All the carers are incredibly sweet, patient and loving. They have an infinite amount of books, toys and activities to stimulate even the little ones. They were able to adjust to our son's crazy napping schedule and always tried their best to get him to drink as much of mommy's milk during the day. They offer home-cooked meals and are flexible with their schedule. Our son is always incredibly happy at drop-off and pick-up. We cannot recommend Yoko's enough!! … About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours, Provides mealsReview from the 2017/2018 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey
We’ve had our 8 month old son enroll in Yoko’s daycare and we love it so far. My son is never crying at drop off and doesn’t ever seem to want to go home when I come to pick him up. It makes me feel at ease knowing that he’s comfortable there. The caretakers are gentle, fun and engaging. They follow his naps and feeding schedules well and they let me know when he’s making major milestones in his development. Our son is half Japanese and the caretakers speak to him primarily in Japanese all day, which we love. Age: < 1 year Review: I have nothing but positives to say. My daughter started daycare at 9.5months, in the midst of major separation anxiety. Yoko, Atsuko, and all the caregivers were calm and supportive towards all of us, and just as they said, by two week we went from sobbing, arms outstretched, crying "mama! mama!" to cuddling in Atsuko's arms, reaching out to the other babies, and smiling when I kiss her goodbye. Even. More remarkably, and maybe I should have lead with this, they got my daughter on the bottle! She had been rejecting everything save the breast since 4 months. You can imagine our anxiety as I prepared to go back to work! Within two weeks she was also taking a bottle. I also have to say, she has not gotten sick the way other children I know have while at daycare. In addition, the bigger kids are so sweet to her (and each other)-I love seeing what nice children they are and how the caregivers gently reinforce positive social behavior. Advice? Fit matters a lot-for your kid and you.PSP Daycare Review: Good daycare means.....Happy Baby = Happy Parents = Happy Life
After a long term of researching and scheduling tours with day-care facilities, we finally found the fitting one. "Yokos Daycare". Our gut feeling told us instantly that this place would be just perfect for our baby boy (now 8 months). The place offers musical interaction (for and with kids), reading and craft sessions and the homemade food/snacks. Also we were very interested in the bilingual interaction among the day-care and kids (English-Japanese). We also love the fact that we as parents can access pictures of our child throughout the day (playing, eating and napping, interacting with other babies). Furthermore, I would like to highlight the loving and nurturing treatment that each kid gets at Yoko's. Yoko is very professional and has many years of experience in child care. She also accommodates our wishes to our complete satisfaction, so does her team. It is very easy to communicate with each employee, which is very important to me and my husband. Our son loves going to Yoko's daycare. There is not a single day once dropping him off that he is not exited or happy. We appreciate the effort that Yoko and her team is putting into to keep kids and parents happy. We highly recommend Yoko's! Thank you Yoko and team!Review of Yoko's Daycare
Yoko cared for our daughter at her previous daycare, then left to start her own. When we needed fill-in drop-off care, Yoko’s was our first choice - our daughter absolutely loves Yoko and has a wonderful time every time she stays there. She has created a caring, nurturing environment with enough structure to keep things running smoothly, but with a lot of personalized attention and loving care for each child. I highly recommend Yoko’s Daycare!Highly recommend!
My two-year-old son has been at Yoko's for about two months, and we are very happy there. It is a small, intimate daycare (about 6 to 8 kids for now, but I think she plans to go up to 12), the kids range in age, and Yoko and her two other staff members are warm and really seem to love what they do. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are included, which they cook from scratch. There are plenty of books and toys, as well as a keyboard. Every day the weather is nice the kids go outside to play in the backyard, where there is a swing set and sand/water table. I often get pictures throughout the morning of my son playing, eating, and reading books, which always bring a smile to my face! Yoko has also been very accommodating if we need a late pickup or more hours one week. Highly recommend!I highly recommend Yoko's Daycare
My 2 year old son has been in Yoko's Daycare for the past 2 months. He loves it. His day starts off with a healthy breakfast (that she cooks based on what he requests). Then they go out to her backyard to play. She is sure to send me a picture or two through out the day. Yoko is great with the children. She also has another caregiver based on how many children are in attendance. It's a nurturing place for my son to be and I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend Yoko's Daycare. I'm not sure how many more spots she has, but I'm sure it will fill up soon.Review for Yoko's Daycare
Yoko has been babysitting my daughter since she was a small baby. I consider myself truly lucky to have my daughter in Yoko’s care. When Yoko told me about her plans to open her own daycare I was super excited and immediately made plans to enroll her. She’s been going there only during weekends for now. Because she was teaching at the Daisy Daycare when she started her own daycare and I had already had my daughter in the other care. I have to work during weekends and finding a daycare that is open on weekends makes things super convenient. Yoko is full of warmth, kindness and patience and she brings same philosophy to her daycare. The daycare space is awesomely cozy, clean and inviting with bright colors, books, toys and a huge backyard! Yoko makes sure that she is spending her time in an intellectually stimulating environment where she feels comfortable, is well fed and happy. Also, I am Japanese and for me it is important that my daughter will learn Japanese. Yoko gives her Japanese lessons and she has already picked up so many words and even sings songs in Japanese. I am happy because I know that my daughter is in a loving place where she is engaged, happy, learning and growing in a truly wonderful atmosphere
