UPCOMING SPECIAL EVENTS AT BROOKLYN'S ONLY OUTDOOR ICE RINK

-     "RINK REWARD DAYS" AT PROSPECT PARK'S WOLLMAN RINK -

Brooklyn, NY - Skating outdoors at Prospect Park's Wollman Rink isn't just
fun and good exercise.  The Park's new "Rink Reward Days" offer rink patrons
a chance to win tickets to local sporting events, take home free sporting
merchandise and promotion items, and even become a TV star for Valentine
Day!

 January 24 & 25: Free raffle (with Rink admission) to win New Jersey Nets
tickets plus merchandise give-away.

 February 7: Record a "Video Valentine" to be shown on News 12 Interactive
Channel 612 on iO TV.   News 12 Brooklyn's meteorologist, Mike Favetta, will
be at the Wollman Rink during the taping from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.   Video
Valentines are free with Rink admission. Channel 612 is a free service to
Cablevision iO digital cable subscribers and provides on-demand access to
Brooklyn news, traffic and weather.  Your Video Valentine will be available
by selecting the "iO Extra" section on Channel 612.   (Rain date February 8)

February 13:  New York Rangers Celebration from 6 - 8 p.m.  Merchandise
give-away, entertainment, and special Ranger surprises (all free with Rink
admission).

 February 28: Free raffle (with Rink admission) from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. where
20 lucky winners will get an adult hockey stick courtesy of Sports
Authority.

Plus, now through the end of the skating season (mid March) enjoy Half-Off
Fridays -- 50% off paid regular admission every Friday (Excluding 2/20).

Regular Rink admission is:

. Adults: $5

. Children (14 and under) and Seniors: $3

  Skate Rental: $6.50

Tuesdays            8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Wednesdays        8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Thursdays           8:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Fridays              8:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.

Saturdays           10 a.m. - 1 p.m.; 2 - 6 p.m.; 7 - 10 p.m.

Sundays              10 a.m. - 1 p.m.; 2 - 6 p.m.

While at the Rink, enjoy warm food and snacks, hot chocolate and other
refreshments from the Kate's Corner snack bar.  You can also take skating
lessons or even throw a skating party!

Directions: 

Wollman Rink is located near the Parkside and Ocean Avenue entrance to
Prospect Park.   Free parking is available.

 Enter the Park at Lincoln Road & Ocean Ave., Parkside & Ocean Aves., or
Flatbush Ave. & Empire Blvd. (Willink entrance) and follow the directional
signs.  By train: Q, S, or B to Prospect Park Station.  By bus: B-16, B-41,
B-43 and B-48 will bring you close to the Park's Willink entrance.
