  • Review from the 2020–2021 Daycare, Preschool, Pre-K, and K Survey

Review: The physical space is clean, warm, inviting, and large. The people are amazing! The are kind, knowledgeable, professional, loving, and patient. Our daughter loves going each day and developed some amazing skills, cleaning up, washing hands, sharing, turn taking, and most importantly, confidence! We would absolutely choose this program again and again! Facility amenities: Has after-school options, Has early morning hours, Provides meals What would you change about the program? Nothing Is there anything you would like to add about how the school handled the pandemic? They still have mask mandates, social distancing at pick up and drop off. Deep Cleaning every day. Excellent communication regarding the health and well-being of staff, kids, etc.
  • Daycare Recommendations in Bed Stuy

We are in bed stuy but decided to go with Williamsburg Montessori, it’s about a 15-20 min drive. We love them and they start with infants all the way through elementary school! They are amazing with communicating and the head of the school, Becky, is wonderful!
  • Experiences at Williamsburg Montessori?

We’ve had our daughter at WMS since she was 5 months old, and we love it. Becky took over as director about a year ago and she’s really gotten the school in order (though many of the teachers are still there from when Parker first started attending). I really love their approach and they often go out the ferry landing and Domino Park with the kids. Before and aftercare has been a lifesaver for us, from a practical point of view. Our daughter and her classmates (a few of whom started in the infant room and are now 4 and 5!) are happy, polite, inquisitive, and excited to be there. We are so grateful to have found this school 3 years ago.
  • Review from the 2018/2019 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

Infant: Amazing, caring teachers who let the babies lead. They respect and offer opportunities for independent movement, learning and playing. Our daughter thrived and within weeks of her starting (at 5months) was crawling, sitting in chairs, eating solids, and really becoming active. Ones: The respect the teachers show for child-lead learning is really the greatest feature of this school. She is independent, can entertain herself, loves books, walks, eats lots of different foods, and is exposed to different aged children during fee play, walks outside, and during aftercare. They also offer art and music during the week as well as cooking/food experience. The emphasis is on learning independent life skills (like any montessori program) so they spend a lot of time practicing getting their own jackets, indoor v outdoor shoes, walking on a lead, discussing what they see in nature, textures, cleaning up, etc. Also, the whole school is on the first floor with big exterior windows NOT in a basement. The downsides: there is no communication during the day (not photos or updates) and it’s tough to get to know her teachers. You get a “report” at the end of the day, and photos once a week, which makes me feel less connected than I’d like. However, the teachers are focused on the kids, which i’d prefer, rather than teachers on their phones all day sending updates. Also, I’d love for a slightly lower child to teacher ratio. (Infants: 1:4, with extra aides; Ones: 1:5, one one extra floating side shared between two classes). About the facility: Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours What would you change? Add additional teachers, increased correspondence daily - one photo at noon would be perfect.
