Recommendation: Landscaping & garden design
We recently moved into a new house with an enormous and very neglected backyard. I had spoken to (fellow Park Slope parent!) William Luckfelt a few years earlier after reading a recommendation someone else had posted. He was thoughtful and transparent in his advice for our small concrete patio, and even though we didn't wind up moving forward with the project (we had a newborn at the time so it just never made it to the top of our list!), I thought of him again a few years later. He was once again incredibly helpful in thinking through what will wind up being an ambitious project, and worked with us to come up with an approach that aligned with our budget and immediate needs as well as our long-term vision. I was more than a little overwhelmed by the task at hand, and was grateful to William for walking through each step and making useful suggestions about how to visualize the space and create something practical and beautiful for our family. William and his team stayed on budget, were incredibly efficient, cleaned up inside, and worked well with other contractors who were rotating through the house at the same time. (Our neighbors also loved him!) He even helped clear out a storage shed full of tools and miscellaneous odds and ends left by the previous occupants. He is thoughtful, pleasant, and easy to work with. I will definitely continue to work with him and highly recommend him for anyone looking for help with their yard, garden, or patio. I love working with William because he's happy to take on any gardening or landscaping task solo but is equally skilled at teaching and mentoring alongside me as I garden. Hi! I want to give a shout out to a local PSP dad and small business owner in the neighborhood. I saw a few recommendations for William on PSP and had him do a garden renovation for me. Our family backyard needed new plants and a patio. William was great as he worked within our budget and worked with us to find a design that we could afford and be happy with. We are so happy with our new trees, planting beds, and patio. The best part about him is that he was really honest and worked hard to understand what we wanted and worked with us to make that happen. His crew is really polite and treated our home respectfully (and cleaned up!) The work they did was artistic and practical in the long run. He told us the truth about different plants and designs, which we really appreciated, and helped us make decisions for a functional and beautiful new outdoor space. I highly recommend him. William recently finished a large project in our backyard, including installing a new fence, removing trees, transplanting shrubs and planting many new plants. We are incredibly happy with the end result! On top of him making our backyard look great, his work came in on budget, he kept our neighbors happy while the construction was ongoing, he took deliveries for us when we weren't there and was a pleasure to work with. I've seen some posts for people looking for gardeners and wanted to pass along a recommendation for William Luckfelt. He's a local dad and recently completed a project for us in our backyard. William was really a pleasure to work with. He had great suggestions and we are really happy with the end result. Having gone through other construction work in our home, I expected to come home every day to complete chaos and mess, but William was so neat we could barely tell we were having work done. He even went so far as to walk our dog when the dog was scared of the delivery people. We found his pricing to be fair and amazingly the project came in under budget. For anyone looking for a local gardener/horticulturist, I recommend my neighbor (and fellow Park Slope parents) William Luckfelt. He's done stuff for us around the building, and designs beautiful spaces. He grew up in the Native American culture, and brings not only a love but deep respect for the earth and nature which he incorporates into his work. His background: - He's a horticulturist by training who designs and builds garden spaces (lighting, irrigation, drainage, stone walls walks and patios, fences, wood and metal planters, water features, etc.) - Prior to getting his degree in horticulture and design, he did a lot of landscaping work specializing in stone work - In our consultation with him, he focused a lot on giving outside spaces a sense of hierarchy and unity by bringing in different elements together - He's knowledgeable but also frank about what a space needs (or doesn't need) and will be straight forward with his recommendations - His consultation fee will be applied towards the work, if you decide to work together If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to William directly at william@williamswork.com2017 Review
I wanted to give a shout out to William Luckfelt Garden Design (williamswork.com). Tel: 917 945 3081. William is a trained horticulturist and stoneworker who also specializes in garden design. He came over on the weekend to give us an estimate and ended up staying to help do some work on the spot! He is very reasonably priced and extremely knowledgeable about gardening, landscaping and stone. He can provide services from planning to installation and maintenance (and everything in between). And, he’s a park slope dad of 2 kids too.
