REVIEW: My son has gone to the Wild Ferns after school program from 1st through 3rd grade. He loves it. They are outside in the park rain/shine/snow/cold. Kids must be dressed appropriately but there are always extra clothes on hand if kids didn't dress quite right for the day's weather. Ruta runs the program and is very dedicated to the kids' learning and appreciating nature for the sake of being in nature. The kids get to explore, climb, dig, appreciate the park and nature. It's unstructured exploration with the counselors as guides. The program does lean toward younger kids, but three of my son's friends have also been attending Wild Ferns for the past year which makes it a great time. He comes home from Wild Ferns filthy from being outside. It's perfect. Skills learned: My son has learned about nature and Prospect Park What would you change? The program has a lot of younger kids but the older kids (3rd graders) have learned to be good role models for them. Age of child: 9
