Having a bad case of carpal tunnel with pregnancy
had DeQuervain's last year (probably caused by my non-ergonomic work-from-home setup) and saw Dr Vipul Patel on 9th St in Park Slope. I walked away with a diagnosis, a cortisone shot, and a hard brace for my wrist/thumb. I wore the brace for the recommended amount of time and then broke out now and then whenever my wrist was feeling tender for another couple months. I'm healed now and I'm so glad I got it checked out. (June 2021 review)Orthopedist recommendation?
Sorry to hear about your elbow pain. I suggest Dr. Vipul Patel, whose office is located on 9th St bw 5th and 6th Aves. I think he might be a hand specialist (but does general orthopedics as well) and I saw him for a torn calf muscle. He and his office staff were great! (February 2021 review)Hand Doctor Recommendation
I saw Dr. Vipul Patel, an orthopedic surgeon focused on hands, last fall. I saw him for a calf muscle tear but can attest to him being a great doctor (and I was able to recover fully without any surgery). His office is on 9th St between 5th and 6th Aves in Park Slope, so very convenient. (August 2020 review)De Quervain's/mother's thumb treatment
I was in the same boat from 1.5 months on and when it got so bad I couldn't really use my hands especially when I woke up I went to Dr Patel I'm Central Slope. He and his staff were great. In addition to the injection they make you custom braces which are so much more comfortable than whatever I had found in the store before. Now it's been three months, I'm still feeling good but whenever I feel even the slightest twinge I sleep with the braces on and all good. (November 2019)ISO hand surgeon
I’ve had a great experience with Dr Vipul Patel on 9th St. He fixed my daughter’s tiny, completely crushed thumb - she needed surgery right away and he operates at Methodist. (August 2018 review)Re: Recommendation for Hand Doctor
I second the motion for Dr. Patel. Very thorough, fast, pleasant. And he seems to take just about any insurance under the sun.Severe hand pain / orthopedist and specialist recs
We had a very good experience with Dr Vipul Patel on 9th StreetRe: Recommendations for a hand doctor?
We saw Dr Vipul Patel on 9th St in Park Slope last year when my daughter's thumb was crushed. He saw us right away and went out of his way to get us into Methodist for emergency surgery. When she developed a higher fever one night after surgery his staff got him on the phone although he was boarding a plane and he gave me his cell # and email so I could reach him while he was abroad. All this to say that his bedside manner is amazing and he is great with kids. My daughter's thumb looks almost normal, which I thought would be impossible. I think he did his residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery.
