  • Review from the Summer 2022 Birthing Survey

What month and year was your child born? 03/2022 Review: Love my OB. Straightforward and personable. The office is quick to respond to any questions through their patient portal.
  • Review from the Summer 2022 Birthing Survey

What month and year was your child born? April 2022 Review: Dr. Pena is wonderful. She came recommended to me by a friend and I was really happy with her care. She is very direct while also being caring as well. Her colleagues at that Weill Cornell practice are also amazing.
  • Review from the Spring 2022 Birthing Survey

Dr. Pena - Can be quick in appts when no issues/concerns but takes time when you ask questions or raise concerns. She always came across very knowledge-able and thorough which helped ease a lot of my pregnancy concerns along the way.
  • Recommendation for Gyn with Weill Cornell

Seconding the recs for Drs Fong, Pena, and Chen!
  • Recommendation for Gyn with Weill Cornell

My OB is Dr. Pena who I also really like and who I saw during my pregnancy. I really liked her as well. I appreciated that she never once made suggestions based upon my age but based upon my health. She did a membrane sweep on me at 41 weeks and my water broke 15 minute later as I was already out of the clinic in Tribeca! They’re both out of the Tribeca office. I will say the appointments are notoriously late no matter the time of day…but they take their time with you when it’s your turn. The front desk staff is lovely too.
  • Iso Spanish Speaking OBGYN

Seconding Dr. Vanesa Peña at Weill Cornell. She’s a highly competent and empathetic doctor. I recommend her for Spanish- and English-speaking patients alike. She saw me through two pregnancies and a gynecological emergency many years ago. I have felt so fortunate to be in her care each time. (February 2021)
  • Iso Spanish Speaking OBGYN

Dr. Vanesa Pena at Weill Cornell was my OB when I had my daughter 4 years ago. I think she's great, and she is a native Spanish speaker. (February 2021)
  • Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey

Dr Peña is a no fuss, no frills kind of doctor. She is rather expedient at appointments and doesn’t necessarily invite questions or discussions. The practice, however, is fantastic and you feel really well taken care of .
  • Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey

She was absolutely wonderful and so was the whole team of doctors she works with. She was out on maternity leave herself for the last part of my pregnancy and delivery but I loved the other doctors too and always felt cared for.
  • 2019 Birth Survey

Both great: compassionate, good communicators, made me feel fully informed and never made me feel like my questions were stupid. Once I was on the roster it was also easy for me to get appointments — very pleasant office staff. (Po Ching Fong / Vanessa Pena)
  • 2019 Birth Survey

The practice, Weill Cornell in TriBeCa, is efficient and the OBs generally seem like they know what they are doing. But because they have so many patients, it does feel like you’re barely betting any time in with them (5-10 min max) of face time with not a whole lot of time for questions or raising any concerns. They are focused on the solely physical experience of pregnancy and not necessarily all the emotional enormity of what is going on with you, which I guess is to be expected.
  • [Spring2016Babies] Need New OBGYN

I was very happy with Dr. Vanesa Pena at Weill Cornell, delivers at NY Presbyterian Downtown (in lower Manhattan). Her office is in Tribeca. I have friends who love her colleague Dr. Po Fong, too.

I've gone to Dr. Pena for a few years, but this was our first time working together during a pregnancy. My appointments mostly started on time—a big plus when you're booking a lot of appointments during work hours. Perhaps it was due to our relationship prior to this pregnancy, but she was truly enthusiastic and supportive to me and my partner. Both of us looked forward to our appointments with her, it was actually fun to see her, chat with her and be treated by her. I can't really say that about another doctor. I am of "advanced maternal age" and Dr. Pena never ever made me feel like this was odd or something that should be treated. Based on a July 2017 birthing experience

Part of a 4-person practice, so Dr. Fong actually delivered my baby. Dr. Pena however was excellent throughout my pregnancy, and was very open about discussing any concerns I had regarding my birth plan. Based on a April 2017 birthing experience

As the OB for my first pregnancy, Dr. Peña's calm and matter-of-fact demeanor always reassured me. When things were going as they should, visits were quick and easy. Whenever something wasn't quite right, there was a reasonable plan to follow up on it. I always felt heard and considered, and that I could trust nothing was being missed or forgotten. Dr. Peña and the other three OBs in the practice (all of them moms themselves) dotted their i's and crossed their t's, on top of being approachable and compassionate, both to me and my spouse. During business hours, I have always been able to reach one of their nurses over the phone with concerns (for example, about my recovery). When calling outside of business hours (for example, about going into labor), I was called back promptly by the OB on call. Based on a August 2017 birthing experience
