Review: We have been really happy there. They have outdoor space, potty trained my son and because they provide meals he ended up eating a lot of foods that he wouldn't have eaten otherwise. I do wish they had more messy and unstructured play, but the caregivers are excellent and it is affordable so I would likely choose them again. Amenities: Has outdoor space, Provides meals

Location: 761 Bergen Type of facility: Daycare Review: We have had a great experience at Tiny Steps since our son started there at age 7 months (he is now 19 months). All the teachers are loving, caring, and extremely competent and the director Lena is organized and a good communicator. The play-based setting is a really nice, laidback environment, and our son has been very comfortable there as he has transitioned through many different stages and experienced both the baby room and the toddler room. There is not a ton of information given on a day-to-day basis about what goes on, but I am always confident that my child is well cared for, loved, and safe. They also provide meals and snacks, and have a nice big backyard for the kids to play outside. What amenities does the facility have? Has outdoor space, Provides meals What would you change about the program, if anything? Ideally I would love a bit more communication during the day, e.g. photos or updates on what they're learning. But I know the tradeoff of that is that teachers would be on their phones more and less focused on the kids, so ultimately I am comfortable with getting less information and knowing the teachers are spending their time with my child, not on their phones. Is there anything you would like to add about how the school is handling the pandemic? I've been satisfied with how Tiny Steps has handled Covid policies. They require a 3-day quarantine then a negative test whenever there is a positive case in the same room, as well as a quarantine after any travel. However, they've also been reasonable about evolving as the pandemic changes, and have not been overly rigid in my opinion. Teachers continue to wear masks.
  • Tiny Steps locations

We love the Bergen location! Never checked out any of the others but our daughter has been at Tiny Steps since she was 6 months old, and she’s now 14 months. She’s very happy there, they seem to really care about her. We have had nothing but good experiences.
  • Tiny Steps locations

Both my kids are at Tiny Steps, we’ve been with them since 2019. I absolutely love it as do all the parents on our WhatsApp group- many of my friends are sending their second kids there which I think is the ultimate compliment! Both Bergen and Pacific locations get raves (I have experience at one location and my cousin at the other- he is particularly happy after leaving a different daycare), the teachers are so loving and wonderful.
  • Tiny Steps locations

My 9 yr old was cared for at Tiny Steps from infancy through age 3, first at the Baltic St location and then at the Bergen St location when we moved. I had nothing but great things to say about the owner and her very carefully chosen caretakers. My daughter and her peers all turned out fantastic- smart and emotionally well balanced kids. However that was a long time ago. The real reason I popped in to respond here is because I know that Tiny Steps used to be co-owned and the owners split up around the time my daughter was born and continued to run two different operations but under the same name.
  • Review from the Fall 2021 Early Childhood Education Survey

Type of facility: Daycare Review: We’ve had an excellent experience sending our child to Tiny Steps baby room on Bergen. Lena and her staff of caretakers have made us feel super welcome despite the pandemic and not really being able to come inside. Our child loves going. They send photos and do fun events for the holidays. The things we like the best: the outdoor space, the separate nap room, the extremely loving caretakers! We’ve met a bunch of the parents and it has been a lovely community. I am going to be sad when we move up rooms because the caretakers we have are so sweet! What amenities does the facility provide? Has outdoor space, Provides meals What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? The menu for food doesn’t rotate much and could be a little healthier but honestly it works well :)
  • Tiny Steps experience

My toddler went to tiny steps until mid March of this year with the start of the pandemic. I also had a great experience. I will say re: naps they were flexible when I asked Lena to transition my son to 1 nap from 2 (he was 18 months at the time). So if this is what is concerning to you maybe consider inquiring what your options are ?
  • Tiny Steps experience

My 11 month old A. has gone to the Bergen Tiny Steps location since November and we've been really happy with it. The teachers are attentive and loving, and it's really convenient that they provide lunch and snacks. The owner, Lena, takes COVID seriously and I like that they have their own outdoor space and only one class in the space.
  • Tiny Steps experience

My son went to Tiny Steps on Bergen and Washington from the age of 6 months to 12 months, and we really liked the teachers and the outdoor space.
  • Experience with Tiny Steps

My son is at Tiny Steps on Bergen/Washington. It’s great :) I find the kids are significantly more tired after a morning at daycare than at home, so they may fall asleep much earlier than at home. Some days my kid doesn’t fall asleep til an hour into nap time... but to be fair he does that at home too! I think they go down closer to 12:30 too.
  • Daycares in the neighborhood

I'd provide another recommendation for Tiny Steps, they have multiple locations through Prospect Heights. Caregivers are warm and nurturing, they do some cute activities with the kids, they have a decently sized outdoor space and they take care of breakfast/lunch/snacks. Small groups as well so I feel like my daughter gets a good amount of 1x1 attention and they send us pics throughout the week. My daughter happily goes every day. She's been there since 4 months old, with a few months break due to the pandemic, and after that, we got comfortable with the risk level. They've had no Covid related issues, but the decision to bring your kids to daycare/school in this pandemic is very personal!
  • Daycares in the neighborhood

Our son is 2 and has been at Tiny Steps daycare since he was 5 months old (first St Marks/Classon location, now toddler room on Bergen). It’s been wonderful for our family. The caretakers are so loving. The director typically knows 1-2 months before if she has room for new kids, they accept kids starting at 12 weeks and I think up to age 4 in different rooms (infant to 18 months, toddler room, big kid room).
  • Daycares in the neighborhood

Our 11-month old A. has been going to Tiny Steps on Bergen and Washington for about two months. We've been really happy with it and A. loves it there. They text us pictures occasionally and really seem attentive and loving to her. They provide lunch and snacks for babies eating solids, which makes getting her out the door much easier. It's weird to not be able to go inside or get to know the teachers and other parents (which is probably the same with any daycare at the moment), but I'm glad they're taking precautions.
  • Review from the 2018/2019 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

My daughter loves going to Tiny Steps, the hours are great from 8-6 if you need. The caregivers are warm and friendly. My daughter is learning a lot and talks about daycare a lot, they do art projects, yoga class and music class. I highly recommend.. About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has early morning hours, Provides meals What would you change? Different rules with potty training. We have found it really hard to potty train due to the lack of consistency of how it is handles at daycare compared to at home.
  • Review from the 2017/2018 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

Review: My daughter has been full time at Tiny Steps since she was 8 months old (she is now 25 months), and we all absolutely love it. She was in the baby room until about 18 months, and then was moved next door to the toddler space. All of her teachers have been amazing. They are kind and committed, and we know that she gets fabulous care. She has yoga and music classes, and lots and lots of arts and crafts (among other activities). Having her in full time daycare has been a struggle as a parent - I miss her so much during the day! - but I grateful to the staff for all they do. About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has early morning hours, Provides meals.
  • Review from the 2017/2018 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

The caretakers are very warm, and I felt very comfortable with them looking after my son who started at 5 months. They mix the bottles and formula which is a huge time save for me to not have to prep food. They also actively work on the developmental milestones. About the facility: Has outdoor space, Provides meals What would you change? Include photo/video updates.
  • Review from the 2016/2017 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

Type: Daycare About the facility: Has outdoor space, Provides meals Review: We love Tiny Steps on Bergen Street. The teachers in each room (infant, intermediate, preschool-age) have all been wonderful and welcome our daughters like family. Our older daughter did 2 years here in the intermediate and older kids rooms and we found a great community of neighborhood families who have remained friends. Our younger daughter is in the intermediate room now, having started there at 3 months in the infant room. We feel like our kids are very well looked after here and can recommend without reservation. What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? The owner is great and we like her a lot, but worth noting that her management style is not super communicative. This is fine for us at this stage (and nearly all day-to-day communication is with the caregivers in each room), but I think it can be off putting for some parents when signing up.
  • Review from the 2016/2017 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

Type: Preschool About the facility: Has outdoor space, Provides meals Review: I have a 2.5 year old in the preschool program and a 5.5 month old in the infant daycare. Both of my children have loved Tiny Steps. The caretakers are incredibly loving and nurturing and communicate with parents well. I should note that, until the preschool program, most of the caretakers speak only a little bit of English (their primary language is Russian). It did not hinder my older son's language development. My husband and I love having our kids at Tiny Steps. We feel like they are loved and well taken care of. We have very gentle boys and have only twice gotten reports of our older son having a conflict with a classmate (he's been with Tiny Steps since he was 11 months). All locations have their own outdoor space with toys and, for the older kids, a hose for water play on hot days. And they provide all food and cow's milk for breakfast, lunch, and snack! The only exception is baby food, which you provide until your comfortable with your child eating the food they serve. I cannot say enough good things about Tiny Steps. What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? I wish they sent me pictures of kids during the day. For holidays, like Halloween, we'll get a ton of pictures, but they don't give us daily pictures. It's more for my younger son, who started at 4 month.
