REVIEW: Tiny Acorns is a small school: only 8 children are in the 2yo class and 12 children are in the 3yo class. We've been there for both years. There's an outdoor space, but the school is one block from the Parade Grounds, so on nice days they go there for outdoor time. It's clear the teachers and admin genuinely love what they do and that comes through to the kids. I've always appreciated how responsive the teachers are to questions and how collaborative they are if a problem arises. My daughter absolutely loves Mr. Michael who comes to do music and the time they spend at Prospect Gymnastics. If I had to do it all over again I'd definitely choose Tiny Acorns again.; Amenities: Has outdoor space, Has after-school options, Has early morning hours, Provides snacks; offers twice weekly music and gym time; has 2, 3, or 5 day schedule options; What would you change? I can't think of anything I'd change. Although, I guess in a perfect world, I'd love for there to be some sort of exposure t

Review: Our family has loved Tiny Acorns. Our kid loves the teachers and he has learned so much. They have early and late hours, which helps us immensely and just were flexible with our family every time we needed flexibility. They care deeply about the kids, you can tell! If we had to choose again, we would make the same decision, even though it’s been a stretch for us financially. Amenities: Has outdoor space, Has after-school options, Has early morning hours, Provides snacks What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? Lunch meal provided
  • Moving to Windsor Terrace/Two’s Programs

My daughter is currently in the 2s class at Tiny Acorns (Church & Stratford). They're lovely and we just committed to her staying there for their 3s program this fall.

Location: Ditmas Park Type of facility: Preschool Review: Our child has absolutely thrived in the 2’s class at TA and loved school so much. It is a small program (10 kids) and the teachers are so responsive communicative warm and thoughtful. They are constantly posting pictures on Brightwheel so you can see what your child is doing throughout the day. The days are full of activities like music, art, and gym class (a kid gym few doors down). Their backyard is smaller side but they planted things in the spring and even had baby chicks in their classroom and have taken a few walks to the park as kids got older and more capable of the trek. Our kid has benefitted from a ton of socialization and playtime, and gets exposure to so many great activities he’d never have otherwise. I like that they’re not so goal focused or academic which I believe isn’t necessary at all at this age. They provide snacks, and we provide lunch each day. What amenities does the facility have? Has outdoor space, Has after-school options, Has early morning hours, Provides meals What would you change about the program, if anything? More access to nature— Maybe wishful thinking since this is NYC but my understanding is that the older (3’s) class visits the park more often. Their art projects are amazing, but would be great to have a few more open ended projects in the mix (like free painting, vs projects with very specific outcomes like gluing shapes together to make a snowman, etc). Is there anything you would like to add about how the school is handling the pandemic? Very communicative, taken good precautions and safety measures in flung focusing weekly testing for families
  • 3k programs???

We are in Kensington and went to Tiny Acorns (pre-pandemic) and loved it.

Type of facility: Preschool Review: Tiny Acorns is magical. We had the best experience, from top to bottom - the administration, teachers, communication, all of it. We actually asked if we could pay to keep our daughter there for another year, but they age out after 4 years! The teacher/child ratio is amazing. We received photos of science experiments, crafts, and adventures that were above and beyond. My daughter walked in happy every single day. What amenities does the facility provide? Has outdoor space, Has after-school options, Provides meals What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? Not a thing. Is there anything you would like to add about how the school handled the pandemic? The communication was excellent around safety procedures. There was one COVID case (a parent) and it was handled very well.
  • Review from the 2019–2020 Daycare, Preschool, Pre-K, and K Survey

Review: Both of my daughters went to preschool here, and we highly recommend it! It’s a small school with an intimate, family feeling. The teachers are warm and creative, and the kids have a lot of ‘extra’ activities like music and gym sessions. I can’t say enough about how well the director has handled Covid- we got clear, thoughtful communication from Tiny Acorns throughout this entire period. Highly recommend checking them out! Amenities offered: Has outdoor space, Has after-school options, Has early morning hours What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? I can’t think of anything I would change!

Review: Tiny Acorns is a fantastic small daycare for 2s and 3s. There are about six children in each age group. The teachers are highly-qualified, caring, and enthusiastic. It takes a play-based approach to introduce seasons, colors, numbers, and other age-appropriate concepts. Our 2yo daughter has thrived there and asks to go on weekends. Communication with parents is outstanding. Tiny Acorns uses the Brightwheel app to send photos and nap times throughout the day, as well as to communicate with parents. The teachers and director have been understanding and supportive of our daughter, who wears hearing aids and sometimes arrives late from speech therapy. It has a small paved "backyard" and play equipment, plus weekly visits from from a music teacher and gym coach. We feel lucky to be there! Amenities offered: Has outdoor space, Has after-school options, Has early morning hours What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? Nothing.

  • Review from the 2018/2019 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

The program is presented as play-based and child led but the day is also pretty structured with activities, which I feel works well for a 2-year old. My child loves the teachers and the social interaction with the other kids, who he talks about a lot even though he's only there 2 days/week. He also loves the toys, which are so plentiful and right on eye level and within arm's reach. One of the days he is there the kids go to Prospect Gymnastics and do tumbling and obstacle courses which has led to more jumping and rolling at home. He enjoys it and it has definitely helped increase his agility. Another day they have a music class, which also sounds like fun. The teachers at this place are very kind and patient and conscientious and seem to really enjoy the kids. They will call if they have a concern, and e-mail with updates and information parents need to know. About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours What would you change? I would love it if they could provide meals, but it's something I know they've been working on in their new space. (They just moved in at the end of October.)
  • Review from the 2017/2018 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

We absolutely love tiny acorns. It is truly exceptional. My son started when he was about 2.5 and loves going everyday. The teachers are so loving and really go beyond all expectations. The kids do fun creative projects, get plenty of play time (outside too), have music class and next year will start gymnastics. There is a really good community of parents which I haven’t encountered in the other daycares we have attended. It’s also well organized and the owners are so nice and always easy to communicate with. They will be moving locations in a few months so don’t know the new space but have high hopes! This place is great and can’t recommend it enough. Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours, Provides meals.
