  • Review from the Spring 2024 Early Education Survey

    REVIEW: I've appreciated the Hollow's loose arts-based curriculum—specifically that it encourages a "process" rather than "product" based method for approaching art-making and creation. The fact that a program of this caliber also accepts ACS vouchers is incredible. Our child does love to read, and at times we wondered whether books and storytelling might receive more "airtime" in the curriculum relative to art making, dancing, music, and unstructured play. Note that the program is currently situated across two locations—my child was at the Annex location, which is a smaller program and a smaller space with a group of children that skews younger whereas more older toddlers go to the main location on Rogers. The indoor wall-mounted playground-esque structures at the Rogers location are incredible and set the school apart from many others. For whatever reason, we did notice more outbreaks of illnesses like HFM at this school than the previous one our child attended and there were 1-2 times when I was disappointed that my child was sent home due to fears of an HFM infection that our medical provider subsequently dispelled upon examination. There were a couple of hiccups with communications due to health-related stuff and also pick-up scheduling--the latter largely due to the program's complicated after-school care options/staffing. Eventually these hiccups worked themselves out. If the school were closer and offered coverage until closer to 6p, I'd strongly consider staying.; Amenities: Has after-school options, Has early morning hours; What would you change? After-school coverage + associated fee; snack fee/quality; language-based aspect of the curriculum/pedagogy

    The Hollow is amazing, they accept that age in their Annex studio I think. Both our boys have been there and are so happy, the staff are all lovely too.

    The Hollow in Prospect Lefferts Gardens? Not sure on pricing but it’s cute and I went to a fun 1 year old party there!
