    I go to Lola at Birdhouse in Gowanus for curly (dry) cuts for my 3A/B hair. She’s great and I always love my cuts but it’s definitely $$$.

    I go the The Bird House in Gowanus for curly cuts for my 2B/2Cish hair. I do sometimes wear it straight and they do a great job cutting it so it can be worn curly or straight.

    The Bird House Salon in Gowanus offers complimentary (!) cuts to anyone going through the chemo process, at any stage. It’s a wonderful, welcoming place. Highly recommend. Love and strength to you! (big fan of this salon - I’ve seen several stylists there and they’re all fantastic!)

  • Great haircut for thick/wavy hair?

    I had an absolutely fabulous curly cut from Lola at The Birdhouse in Gowanus last week. A bunch of other people had recommend her here and on other Park Slope groups I’m in specifically for curly cuts, so I thought I’d give it a try. It wasn’t cheap, but I was very specific about wanting a cut that was good for air drying and always wearing curly. My hair sounds like it is a bit different from yours as it’s pretty fine, but I’m still quite curly and frizz-prone and have had many triangular Rosanne Rosanneadanna-esque cuts in my day. She also used some outrageously (for me) expensive products from Oribe that left my hair looking great straight out of the salon, rather than me having to wash and reset before I look even vaguely normal.(Ahem, Devachan, ahem.) I’m almost tempted to buy them it looked so good.

    I go to Lola at Bird House Salon in Gowanus and looooove how she takes care of my curls (she specializes in - and has a beautiful head of her own spirals)!

    I second the bird house. I see Lola for balayage highlights. It’s pretty low maintenance if you are looking for that.

    I second Frankie at Bird House for color. It’s a little hard to get appts and not the most convenient location to get to, but worth the trip. Their color results are top notch and always look really natural.

    I can recommend the Birds House in Gowanus so much!!! I think they are all great but I especially love Frankie. If you have IG you should have a look at their page. I believe they have a lot of pictures of their work uploaded. The prices are not cheap cheap but very reasonable for what you are getting and in comparison to other places. They are also great for cuts.

    I'm not sure about pricing, but I would recommend Ash Therese at the Bird House on 10th St in Gowanus. I have only had a cut from her, not color, but you can look at her instagram account (ashtheresehair) and see that she does all manner of color, which your teenage would probably find very appealing. (Ash is also young and hip!)

    I really recommend Brooke at The Bird House. She did a great job with my highlights, she really listened and did exactly what I asked for - and she is lovely!
