Review from the Fall 2023 & Spring 2024 Afterschool Survey
REVIEW: Sam is an independent tennis coach (though also coaches professionally at a Brooklyn private school) who does private lessons or 2-3 kids together (parents organize the group) at mutually agreeable times and places. He’s got a great manner with my son, who is not terribly athletic or interested in athletics, but always looks forward to tennis with Sam. I was surprised that Sam manages to keep him fully engaged for an hour at a time. He’s flexible with scheduling and uses local parks (handball half courts for kids who are beginners, so easy to come by - full sized courts get a bit trickier). His rates are fair for private lessons, and great for more than one kids together. Skills learned: Tennis skills, “sticking with it” skills What would you change? We rely on public outdoor spaces so are subject to weather and availability so do get cancelled/rescheduled surprisingly often for rain. But tennis would be prohibitively expensive for us at indoor facilities, and Sam is always happy to try to fit in a different time during the week. Age of child: 8
