Review from the Spring 2022 Birthing Survey
Dr Rothenberg was a fantastic doctor. I was pregnant with twins and I was confident she had the experience to follow me through my pregnancy. She listened to all my questions at every appointment, she was very easy to reach through the Mount Sinai portal and always answered my emails quickly. She took all of my questions seriously but also never made me feel like something was going wrong. She runs a team of 3/4 other doctors, one of them is always on call, and I ended up giving birth with someone on her team who was just as fantastic as she was. I really couldn't recommend her more.Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey
She's excellent. Medically very sound, she really knows her stuff. However, she is not a warm and fuzzy kind of doctor. She will give it to you straight and is a bit abrupt. But, when I did need comforting or reassurance she was great.Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey
I love Dr. Rothenberg. She was my gynecologist before I got pregnant, and she was comforting when I had a miscarriage before this pregnancy. She’s very to the point, and she responds to questions via email directly and quickly. She spends a lot of time with you during appointments. I trust her emphatically and appreciated her care. However, I ended up delivering with a midwife because of covid rules with not letting your partner or doula come to the birth and I wanted to make sure I would have a dedicated practitioner, but in any other situation, I would have loved to have her deliver my baby.Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey
Dr. Rothenberg is a straight talking no-nonsense OBGYN, which is exactly what I wanted. She didn't end up delivering our baby (she shares hospital duty with several other doctors) but I was prepared for that. She was supportive of my desire to not talk specifically about my weight, and the other patients were diverse in terms of race and gender presentation. Her office at Mount Sinai Union Square is very busy and often runs late in the afternoons, but we made most of our appointments first thing in the morning and had better luck.HELLLOOOO??? Welcome May 2020 Families!
My doctor is Susan Rothenberg, who’s at the Mount Sinai Beth Israel group at Union Square. She was my doctor prior to getting pregnant, and I decided to stick with her for my pregnancy. She’s really fantastic — always responds personally to all emails within a few hours (unless she’s on vacation and being covered by another doctor, and they always respond promptly as well). I really like that she responds to my emails personally. I had tried out another doctor from NYP whose nurse answered her emails, and while I know that's protocol for many offices, but I appreciate that Dr. Rothenberg is always the one who I communicate with directly -- I know that she's always in the loop. She’s very level-headed and practical, but doesn’t make me feel like a crazy person when I ask a million questions or feel nervous abut something. I also love that the sonograms are done at her office, so I don’t need to go to another appointment — I’ve been able to stack them in one trip. The fact that her office is in Union Square is great for me because my husband and I work in Tribeca and Soho, so it's easy to get to. My only qualm is that wait times are pretty bad (I’ve been in the waiting room for an hour), but I feel very taken care of by her, so it hasn’t made us switch. Member Review: She is Director of Obstetrics for a reason. She keeps the feelings of the mother in mind while being sure to do what is best for baby and mom. My birth turned into a c-section but only after she told us to "mentally prepare" for that possibility, and after watching the heart monitor for an hour and trying no less than 3 different solutions before asking me to make the final decision. She would have gone through with conventional birth if that is what I wanted, only resorting to emergency c-section if necessary. Insurance details: Takes Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield Prism EPO and United Healthcare Oxford Freedom plans. Filing claims has been fine enough. not much of a headache.
