Stuyvesant Heights Montessori, an Initiate Member School of the
American Montessori Society, is a year-round program with open
admission. We provide a lively and enriching experience to young
learners ages 2-5. School hours are Monday-Friday. A full-day session
is 8 a.m. - 3 p.m., and the extended day is 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. Attendance
patterns offered are 5 days, 3 days, or 2 days. The primary goal of a
Montessori program is to help each child reach their full potential in
all areas of life. Activities promote the development of social
skills, emotional growth and physical coordination as well as
cognitive preparation for future intellectual academic endeavors.

I work professionally in K-12 education and spend lots of time in different schools and classrooms and I am really impressed by this school and how my son is thriving there. Their Principal is really talented and caring, long-time BedStuy educator. They are super caring, put a lot of attention into their curriculum, tons of reading and math oriented activities. They also provide French dual language in all 3 classrooms. My child has become more social and learned so much interesting content. They are also pretty good at parent communication with an App with daily photos and updates, parents emails, and a calendar that they stick to. The community of kids and parents is also really nice as well as racially and ethnically diverse. They offer camps (for a reasonable fee) during all the breaks. Amenities: Has outdoor space, Has after-school options, Has early morning hours, They have an indoor gym for rainy or extra bad weather. It is awesome What would you change: Free PreK! They do not participate in the DOE program. Fewer vacation days. They follow a blend of the DOE and private school calendars. They do offer camps during all breaks though which is amazing!!Review from the 2022 Summer Camp Survey
Location: Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn How old was your child when they attended camp this summer? 5 Review: My son had a great time at SHM summer camp. He loved the daily outdoor water play and weekly themes (animals, photography, cooking, etc).
