Description
At the studio, week to week, parents, caregivers, and children engage in a variety of fun and unique creative activities and exercises which integrate art, creative movement, musical expression, yoga, sign language, drama & puppetry and storytelling. The program also offers special events such as visiting musicians, puppeteers, storytellers, and movement specialists. The studio program is inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach and provides interaction and enrichment through non-results and process oriented play. Individual portfolios of each child are also compiled documenting their studio experiences. By nurturing relationship and community-based creative interaction the studio strives to be open,
flexible, and accommodating of the individual needs and requests of participating families.

2019-2020 Year Review
This is an arts-based program that is truly magical. Some teachers have early childhood development and/or education training, while most have arts training with childhood experience, and that blend is wonderful. The focus is not academic, and is instead on using the arts as a means to explore and learn about oneself and the greater community and world. Children learn about really sophisticated subjects such as architecture, space exploration, and classical music in a way that's fun for them. There is a real focus on emotional development, with incredibly warm and loving teachers and staff who are exceptionally tuned in to the emotions of children. There is also a lot of attention paid to diversity, with diverse classrooms and teachers, as well as inclusive books and lessons. And the school is in a beautiful historic building with lots of natural light and a lovely garden out back, plus Prospect Park across the street, creating a wonderful setting for children. … About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has early morning hours … What would you change? The downside to the historic building is that it lacks some of the amenities of other preschools - no waiting area so caregivers have to wait outside a lot, and not ideal bathrooms for kids.Review from the 2018/2019 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey
It’s totally hippie which we aren’t so figure it’s great our daughter gets to experience things / ideas / ways of approaching the world she’d never encounter at home. About the facility: Has outdoor spaceReview from the 2017/2018 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey
A wonderful, mixed-age class with caring teachers, fun (for parents and kids) field trips, and a great group of kids and parents. We could not be happier! About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours, Provides meals. What would you change? We wish it was closer, but it's worth the hike!Review from the 2017/2018 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey
We loved this year at Studio for our two year old son. The staff is inspiring, creative, inclusive, and incredibly attentive to each child's needs. They helped us navigate a few challenging transitions this year which was very helpful. Our son absolutely loves going to school, learns a ton, and we consider it a very special place. About the facility: Has outdoor space. What would you change? We would love a full day option. Currently it's only 9-12 for the twos and threes program.Review Submitted via Fall 2015 Daycare/Preschool Survey
PROGRAM: 4s program TIME: 5 days 9 to 2pm AGE: 3-4 years4-5 years REVIEW: Studio is amazing. The teachers have an energy and enthusiasm that I didn't see at any other school. The building is beautiful and they move all around in it, plus lots of time in Prospect Park. The philosophy is about the whole child, holistic learning, creativity, mediation, and more. WOULD YOU RECOMMEND? (Hi/Rec/DoNot) Highly recommend WOULD YOU DO IT AGAIN? Probably not2014 Daycare/Preschool PSP review
Program: 3s, 4s and Terra Length of Time: part days Child's Age: 4-5 years Review: We love this school. Our son attended the 3s and 4s program, and part of their kindergarten year (we received a spot in a long term program in the middle of the year and moved him out very sadly). The school is play based and focuses on art and movement. It is a wonderful wonderful school with very few children per class. It is a loving and caring place. Recommend (Hi/Rec/DoNot) Highly recommend Would you send your child again? AbsolutelyRe: Feedback on Studio Creative Play
My twins attended studio last year in the 3's program. It is a lovely, well executed program. Small group perfect for 3 yr olds, fabulous teachers (we had Caroline, Scott and Ayla) and the directer Khahtee is very involved and has created a really great, open, free flowing and creative program. I don't have a single negative thing to say about our experience!Review from 2013 Summer Camp Experience
Program: 4s Age of Child: 4 Likes: Art, water play, capoeira. He goes to school there too. Would you send your child(ren) again? Yes Do you recommend? Highly recommendReview from 2013 Summer Camp Experience
Age of Child: 5 Likes: SCP is a wonderful camp that is a little more serene and cerebral than some of the other camps we tried. The kids have lots of fun playing outside, "swimming" in blow up pools (the water is only waist-high, and blowing off steam-- but they also paint canvasses, learn about subjects ranging from Mt. Everest to Antarctica, go to the museum, and "create." My son, who was overwhelmed and bored by his previous camp, where they primarily played outside in the heat, loved the pace. He also loved the many loving adult counselors who watch over the kids. Would you send your child(ren) again? Yes Do you recommend? Highly recommendReview from March 2013

Age: - 4 What did you/your child like about the summer camp? Very imaginative, flexible, artistic. What would you change about the program? The camp was 5 weeks and you could sign up for all the weeks or just one. I liked the flexibility but it was a little hard on my child because there were always kids coming and going. Will you send your child back to this summer camp program next year? (Or would you if you could?) Yes Would you recommend this program to other parents for their child in the future? Recommend
