I started seeing Stephanie for acupuncture treatments in my third trimester. At the time, my baby was breech, I was severely anemic and I had just gone through a traumatic 2 days in the hospital, and my entire nervous system was completely shot. I have previously seen a number of different acupuncturists during my pregnancy and had only felt a slight difference from those treatments for maybe 24 hours following them. However, the treatments with Stephanie were very, very different. During our sessions, we discussed what was going on for me physically mentally emotionally and spiritually at length. The questions she asked to inspire conversation between us were very intuitively led and I felt that once she put the needles in and it was time for me to rest and relax for the rest of the session, many doorways and pathways opened up for me internally. Stephanie is a very special and unique acupuncturist. Not only did my baby turn head down and my health rapidly improved, but the continued sessions with her significantly helped build my confidence in myself as a mother. I went into labor naturally a few days before my due date, and it was my dream labor and birth experience. My Midwife (who is also a huge fan of Stephanie) was surprised at the efficiency of my labor for a first time mom, as I was only in active labor for a short period of time before I was pushing. Now holding my 5 week old baby in my arms as I write this, it’s hard for me to express the gratitude I have for Stephanie and her many gifts she offers during her sessions. I can’t imagine where I would be mentally and physically without her. I feel so happy, settled and confident in myself as a new mother, which I know is a rare thing in the early postpartum days. While I may be sleep deprived, I feel very hormonally balanced. I would highly recommend Stephanie to any expectant and/or post birthing parents. I know I will continue to see her for sessions during this first year of motherhood while breast-feeding. Thank you Stephanie! You are a god send!
  • Acupuncturist specializing in fertility

I am currently pregnant with an IVF baby, and hired Stephanie during my embryo transfer stage, and we did weekly visits for my first trimester - on the recommendation of a friend who had acupuncture with her during her pregnancy- she is based in Greenpoint, but does house calls - for more… she isn’t cheap but it is cheaper to go to her in Greenpoint. She is wonderful, knowledgeable, and mostly works with women in various stages of pregnancy and the road to get there.
  • Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey

Stephanie Propper - Acupuncturist. Comes to your home and charges on a sliding scale. Easy to work with and effective in encouraging labor for me.

First Stephanie helped turn my breech baby and then she helped me go into labor. She came to my home and I felt totally comfortable under her care. She is not cheap but she is very skillful.

I recommend Stephanie Propper as a prenatal acupuncturist. She is very compassionate, comes to your home, and has a sliding scale.

Try Stephanie! She does in home visits and is extremely knowledgeable and works predominantly with pre/postnatal clients :)
  • Review submitted via 2015 Birth Survey

Review: Stephanie was great. She does acupuncture in your home - my case to help me try to turn a breech baby. Unfortunately, the baby didn't turn, but that's not uncommon. While Stephanie was there she treated many of my symptoms related to late pregnancy, including back pain, inflammation of my legs, etc. I felt incredibly better after her visit, and the back pain literally disappeared for an entire week (at which point she came again to try to turn the baby, treated me again for pregnancy symptoms, and I again felt way better). She honestly made me feel so much better that my last 4 weeks of pregnancy were much easier than weeks 32-35. And it was really nice to have the convenience of an in-home visit! Insurance: No insurance. Based on a October 2015 birth

If you want to go the acupuncture route, I recommend Stephanie Propper (home visits!) or Patricia Cassidy in Park Slope.
