  • Spoke the Hub Dance Class for 3-5 year olds

I just found out that the dance class my daughter is taking on Thursdays at 3:30 at Spoke the Hub on Union Street has space still available in case anyone is interested. The teacher is Sarah Pope who is amazing with kids. She used to teach at the YMCA and my older son took classes with her there and they used to fill up very quickly, so I was surprised she still has space in this class. I don't have any affiliation with Sarah other than being a parent of kids who love dancing with her.
  • space for a couple more 5-7 year olds in Beginning Ballet at STH

I don't have a kid in this age range currently (but I did!) - still just want to shout out to anyone on list considering that Ms. S is LEGEND. Truly awesome. In beforetimes her classes always sold out, so if you are looking to step back in, I'd jump on it...
  • Where are the local business gyms you love?

I also love the Super Macho Girls Workout at Spoke the Hub. (January 2020)
  • Dance

My 5 year old just started at spoke the hub and we love it. I’d recommend Sarah Pope for a gentle and great with kids approach. It feels like a sweet small community and I love that they’re so flexible about letting you make up classes anytime.
  • Dance

I can recommend 2 classes at Spoke the Hub for your 3 year old son. Sing, Dance and Make believe with Sarah Pope and Creative Ballet with Lori Jorgensen. They are very age appropriate and creative and both my children enjoyed their classes there.
  • Dance/movement class for 3 year old for Winter 2020?

Check out Spoke the Hub! Their website / online system can be hard to navigate so it's easier to call the front desk (or stop in) which is what we always did, but we love the organization and the classes we took there!
  • Alternatives to music class & full time 2’s?

I just enrolled [my daughter] in Spoke the Hub's movement class with the lovely Sarah Pope (she taught my older daughter ballet at the Y). There is a 10% discount if you enroll by August 1st.

  • Ballet classes

Another enthusiastic vote for Sarah Pope! My older daughter has been taking her class at the Y for 4 years and my little one loved the class at Spoke the Hub. She's an amazing person!
  • Ballet classes

I can't recommend Sarah Pope's classes at Spoke the Hub more highly for this age group. The class is called Sing, Dance and Make Believe. There's just enough structure for this age and they are highly encouraged to be imaginative and playful. They're introduced to some ballet concepts through song and imagery. Sarah also uses fun props such as tunnels, balls, a parachute, yoga blocks and a drum. She is very skilled at keeping the class moving and keeping their attention and interest and will adapt the class to the needs of the kids in the room. I don't think you could have the structure of a real ballet class until they're 5 or 6 years old if that's what you're looking for.
  • Dance class

I second the Spoke the Hub "Sing, Dance and Make Believe" classes with Sarah Pope. There's just enough structure for this age group and they are encouraged to be highly imaginative and playful. They're introduced to some ballet concepts through song and imagery. Sarah also uses fun props such as tunnels, balls, a parachute, yoga blocks and a drum. You can drop in for a trial for $20 I believe.
  • Dance class

My 4 year old loves her Sing, Dance, Make Believe class at Spoke the Hub. The teacher Miss Sarah is lovely and great with them. And you get to go in and watch for the last ten mins of every class and they put on a little show of what they have been doing which is super cute. It’s creative dance rather than strict ballet.
  • looking for a zumba class in Park Slope

I LOVE Kuni's Zumba class at Spoke the Hub on Wednesday's at 7:30PM. It is an advanced Zumba class, but open to anyone, and feels a bit like going out to a dance party :) I recommend checking it out. She has other classes in the neighborhood such as at dancewave over the weekend and studio Maya (in prospect heights), her schedule is below and also on her FB - https://www.facebook.com/kuni.quimby Tue-8pm Studio Maya Wed-7:30pm Spoke the Hub Sat-10am Studio Maya Sun-11am Dancewave No affiliation, I randomly found out about this class by passing by spoke the hub!
  • [Fall2015Babies] Gym/Dance/Movement classes?

Spoke the Hub is also lovely but I don't have experience with their little kid classes.
  • SUMMARY: Thoughts on Mark Morris Parent and Toddler Movement Class?

I can't recommend Spoke the hubs sing dance and make believe class enough. My daughter is in her third semester of it and absolutely loves it. The teacher Sarah is great and the price is reasonable compared to other classes. I'm not sure what the age ranges but my daughter started around 18 or 20 months and was perfectly fine.
  • Re: ISO: creative movement/dance (not traditional dance) for 6-year-old

Check out BAX (Brooklyn Arts Exchange), Spoke The Hub and Cynthia King. They're all great studios that have age-appropriate and wonderful movement/dance programs.
  • shout out for Lindsay's French/English singalong

I second the shout out for Lindsay - she is really great with the kids!
  • shout out for Lindsay's French/English singalong

We have been going to Saturday morning (9:45) French/English singalongs at Spoke the Hub for several weeks now. Lindsay, the singer, also plays Monday afternoons at Two Moon. Our son, who is a singalong connoisseur, loves Lindsay. We speak French, but you can easily attend this singalong if you do not speak French, but want your child to have some exposure. She will speak to your child in whatever language you do, and she performs in both languages. I have no connection to Lindsay, just wanted to spread the word!
  • Spoke the Hub classes?

Both of my kids took Sing, Dance and Make Believe numerous times and loved it. If Sarah Pope is still teaching, take her class. She's incomparable.
  • Spoke the Hub classes?

My experience has been that they are great for little kids. When my girls got older they got a little bored, but up to 4 it was a great place.
  • Spoke the Hub classes?

My daughter takes the 3s class and loves it. Highly recommend.
  • dance classes for 2-4 year olds in Park Slope

Oh my, yes. Sarah Pope is one of my very favorite people in Park Slope. Both of my kids passed through her Sing, Dance and Make Believe class, and we all loved her.
  • dance classes for 2-4 year olds in Park Slope

Spoke the hub has great classes and is very reasonably priced. My son took 2 semesters with teacher Sarah pope when he was 2 and 3 and loved it. Miss Sarah is awesome!

Sarah pope at spoke the hub is great. And their rates are the most reasonable I've found. My son (2 3/4) has been taking since September and loves it. (April 2012)

My son attended a great sample class at Spoke the Hub the other night called, "Peaceful Warrior", which is a combination of Tai Chi, Yoga, Dance forms and meditation. It is intended for boys, ages 7-10. My son loved it!! He was happy and peaceful for the entire evening.

Spoke the Hub's boys superhero dance class rocks - we did a trial class there and just loved it, in the end I couldn't make the time and location work but would highly recommend it, the instructor is really good and the kids really enjoy it. (Jan 2011)

Spoke the Hub has a fantastic dance class for boys only. It's called Action Heroes, and it is taught by a gifted teacher whom the boys really respond to. My son loves it. They are just starting enrollment for the winter/spring session, so it's a good time to look into it. (Jan 2011)
  • Review from Summer Camps survey

Program: I forget the name. It's three days a week from 9-12. Age of Child: 6 Likes: I enjoyed the tone of the place and the teachers. Low-key, artsy, flexible. My son enjoyed the small groups and the teachers. What would you change? I would improve the art projects that they do each day. I would let parents know which classes happen each day. Would you send your child(ren) again? Yes Do you recommend? Highly recommend Do you have any other information to add? My son attended last year as well. He's too old to go back next year, but he would if he could!
