Splat Camp

Description

Summer location:
BASIS Independent Lower School, 405 Gold Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201

School break location:
The Art of Words Community School, 52 Bridge Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201

We created Splat Camp to be a fun place for creative, brainy kids to fully express themselves, socialize, and learn through play. Splat Camp is an extension of our extremely popular After School class, Splat Lab, which is a 4-station model drawing from youth development principles, Montessori elements, and experiential learning. Many kids know us from attending After School programs at their schools in Park Slope, Carroll Gardens, Gowanus, Windsor Terrace, and Downtown Brooklyn.

Our School Break Camps are located at The Art of Words Community School (52 Bridge Street) in DUMBO, and during the summer we are located at BASIS Independent School next to CityPoint. At all Splat Camps, kids will create fun projects at a sensory station (DIY clay, Instasnow), a building station (Cup Towers, Building Challenge) an open station (Giant Collaborative Scrolls), and a create station (Pizza Necklaces, Dot Snakes). It all happens at once and it's a whole vibe! There will also be time for movement games, an Anthropology Arts lesson, outdoor activities, and chill time. Our camp is popular with artsy kids, brainy kids, STEM kids, and kids who love making things with their hands. We are #ProNerd and #ProWeird all day.

  • Review from the 2023 Summer Camp Survey

Location: 405 Gold Street How old was your child when they attended camp this summer? 8 and 5 Review: Full program of imaginative activities. The staff treats the kids with utmost respect. Wish they extended that respect to the parents - had a few instances where I felt my concerns were not being heard, and that I was just being an "hysterical mom". What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? Better communication from the staff - I eventually got an email from the camp about the program, after it had already begun.
  • ISO recommendations for summer day camp for 4 yrs old!

We loved Splat Camp in downtown BK! Our daughter had just turned 4 when she went and she loved it. They did a lot of art and science projects and she was always elated during pickup. The counselors were so patient and caring, I can’t recommend them more. Plan on sending her again this summer.
  • Review from the 2021 Summer Camp Survey

Name of camp: Splat Camp Location: Downtown BK How old was your child when they attended camp this summer? 4yrs old Review: The camp is focused on Science experiments and Art projects with outdoor playtime in the middle. Our daughter loves these things but is VERY shy and was reluctant to go in the first couple of times. The teachers were amazing and made her feel very comfortable and she was always smiling ear to ear at the end of the day. She would come home excitedly and tell us about all the projects they did that day. Would you like to add anything related to COVID and how the camp handled it? All the kids were masked indoor and outdoors.
  • SPLAT CAMP

I just want to give a shoutout for Splat Camp in downtown Brooklyn. It focuses on science experiments and art projects and the kids have a lot of fun. My 4yr old daughter was really nervous and scared about going to school but everyone at Splat Camp has been so amazing and supportive. She now looks forward to attending pre-k in the Fall. You can sign up for weeklong classes or sign up on a day to day basis. It runs through August 6 and I believe they still have openings. This is not an ad. I am just really impressed with the program. Please contact Troy if you have further questions. https://www.splatcamps.com/ I can't recommend this summer camp enough.
