Shout Out for South Brooklyn Buying Club in Red Hook
I wanted to give a shout out for the South Brooklyn Buying Club. I joined about a month ago when they first started. During the pandemic I joined a CSA/meat share but it was difficult getting random items that I would never normally buy because the rest of my family is not as adventurous when it comes to trying new foods as I am. The buyers club is great because the food is sourced from all the same places as the CSA i belonged to but you can pick anything you want. I copied this from their website. The buyer's cub offers high quality organic produce, pantry staples, local farm-raised proteins, wild-caught fish at an average of 30% over wholesale cost. We receive an item list with prices and availability for the next week by Saturday at midnight. Ordering is first come, first serve and must be placed by 5pm on Monday. Then, on the following Saturday, members either pick up their orders at a designated time and location (in Red Hook, Brooklyn). They also offer delivery for $10 (I believe) and Park Slope and Windsor Terrace down to the end of the park is in the delivery zone. If you sign up for the weekly email it will include a map with the delivery zone as well. I have found the prices are pretty great for many items. I have no connection to them except as a happy customer and I would like them to succeed so I can continue to be a customer. They have mentioned they need more customers to keep doing this.
