  • Review from the 2023 Summer Camp Survey

Location: Lower Manhattan How old was your child when they attended camp this summer? 6 Review: My child liked the balance of academic (Mandarin) and extra curricular activities (ukulele, martial arts, chess). He also seemed to like the field trips, especially riding on a school bus. Staff were attentive and caring. What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? My son was in a Mandarin level that was too easy for him, but we figured it would be more disruptive if we had him switched. The location, which I believe will change for summer 2024, was a (sweaty) 15 min walk from the nearest subway.
  • Review from the 2020–2021 Daycare, Preschool, Pre-K, and K Survey

Review: We absolutely love SWAN -- they are very thoughtful about everything they do and our son loves it there. His Chinese has really improved and he comes home happy and telling us all about his friends. It also has good hours and is quite reasonably priced -- I really recommend it!! Facility amenities: Provides meals What would you change about the program? I wish they would help a bit more with potty training! But we have gotten through this :) Is there anything you would like to add about how the school handled the pandemic? No parents in the classroom, temperature check/sanitizer on entrance.
  • Review from the 2020–2021 Daycare, Preschool, Pre-K, and K Survey

Review: Our son is in the 2's Mandarin immersion program, and it has been great! He has a basis in Chinese from home but his speaking has really improved and he comes home saying all sorts of new words and singing Chinese songs. The teachers are communicative and very friendly -- he seems to love them. At the beginning of the year we were told we might do halftime in person and halftime remote but then not enough people chose the in person option to need to do that, so we were able to do full time in person. Covid protocols are good -- drop-offs and pick-ups are spaced out, temperature checks every day, teachers wear masks at all times (though the 2s don't -- they require it for 3's and up). We are very happy there and recommend it for anyone wanting an excellent Chinese immersion experience. Amenities offered: Provides meals What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? Currently they don't go outside because of Covid, but I'm hoping that will start again soon. Generally they take the children out to a park nearby every day.

We also have a 2017 child who is currently enrolled in SWAN and loves it there. Our son will be joining the 2s program in SWAN this fall.
