  • Breastfeeding Assistance

I would strongly recommend both Freda Rosenfeld (Ditmas Park based, if she is in the USA), and Sarah Eichler (in Crown Heights). Both are IBCLCs. If you are struggling, especially with weight gain and latching, seeing an IBCLC with more experience would be my suggestion. They have more training to deal with bigger potential issues. I saw both Freda and Sarah with my girls.

Another IBCLC who I saw and also excellent is Sarah Eichler. I know she takes Aetna but not sure of the others. (December 2019)

So helpful! Her guidance & clarity saved us when our baby was tongue tied & lost too much weight. She helped us make a plan to ensure he gained weight back quickly, while also protecting my milk supply. Very skilled & caring. Based on an October 2017 birthing experience.

Amazing! We would not have gotten through our first month without her. The suggestions and advice are practical and delivered with warmth and compassion. As a new mom, she totally helped me understand my supply issues and how to help our baby eat and latch better. Based on a September 2017 birthing experience.

She's okay. My breastfeeding got better after her advice but I still had to watch other videos on my own and ended up using techniques other than she taught. Based on June 2017 birthing experience

I met Sarah just once at her office in Crown Heights. I had a fine experience when I met her. She weights the baby before and after the feeding and she checked if the position I was using was good enough. At the end of the visit she sent me some youtube video to show how to latch on properly. Unfortunately she didn't follow up and never replied to my following questions on breastfeeding and pumping. Based on September 2016 birth experience

Sarah was very helpful and got me through a tough time with a jaundiced baby. I was happy to pay the price for the first home visit, but follow up appointments became prohibitavely expensive. She understood and consulted over the phone and email free of charge. Based on December 2016 birth experience

We didn't have much in the way of problems breastfeeding, but Sarah still provided useful advice to make me more comfortable with nursing, pumping and feeding my baby from a bottle. She took my insurance, which was really great. Based on December 2016 birth experience

Sarah was AMAZING. I had some latch issues and lots of pain, cracking etc and she was a god send. So easy going, not judgemental, realistic, and helpful. Spent 2+ hours at my house helping me. Simply amazing. Member notes about insurance: She does not take insurance but you can submit for out of network reiumbursement if your insurance allows. Based on a January 2016 birthing experience

My insurance didn't start covering lactation consultants until 9 months after my son was born. Hopefully next time around... (Review submitted via the 2014 Birthing Survey)

  • Review of Lactation Consultant

I’d like to recommend the services of Sarah Eichler, an IBCLC, LCCE certified lactation consultant. I met her through the free BF class at South Slope Pediatrics, which was helpful. (not to mention free!) I had latching issues, which Sarah helped me to resolve soon after the birth of my baby. She came to our home on time, was warm, friendly and patient while teaching me ways to resolve the issue. She provides paperwork that can be submitted to your insurance for reimbursement. She also followed up the next day, and checked in periodically to be sure things were going well, with tips and recommendations as needed. Later, we had issues with switching to bottle-feeding. She made time to see us right away. Again she was patient and positive, and helped to pinpoint our obstacles. We left feeling confident and with stress relieved about the transition. I would urge anyone struggling with breastfeeding to see her. Don’t suffer, get help!
