Review from the Summer 2022 Birthing Survey
What month and year was your child born? March 2022 Review: I went to Central Park South OBGYN for gynecological visits for a few years prior to my first pregnancy and was happy with the practice. Dr. Rafalin was friendly and I never had to wait long in the waiting room. He does a non-obstetric ultrasound as part of the routine annual exam which may be overkill but I found it comforting. As an obstetrics patient I was very unhappy with the practice as a whole. There was some billing confusion, the nurses made mistakes with my blood draws/tests, and I didn't get the support I needed as a first time mom. Dr. Rafalin always seemed very rushed and uninterested in discussing my pregnancy-related questions beyond the bare minimum of confirming that the pregnancy continued to be viable. I started to find a new provider, but found that the practice midwife filled in the gaps in service (she is no longer with the practice). As my due date approached, ultrasounds indicated that my baby was large and Dr. Rafalin recommended a C-Section. I requested that we try early induction before resorting to C-Section and I felt that those requests were ignored. The midwife supported my desire for induction but did not seem to be able to schedule it. I had the C-Section and it went well, but I felt pressured into it and do not think it should have been the default solution.Re: Recommendations for Doctors attached to Lenox Hill Hospital
