I reached out asking for suggestions on getting jewelry appraised for insurance purposes and several folks asked me to share with the list. While I couldn't find anyone in Brooklyn, Salvatore & Co was suggested to me. They are located in the Diamond District in Manhattan but they also do appraisals remotely! They charge $75 to appraise something with full paperwork for insurance, but if you just want to know the approximate value they will do that for free. I used them and was very happy with their customer service.

Michael Salvatore of Salvatore & Co is the most trusted jeweler and absolutely wonderful to work with. He has been around for decades, is near diamond district 5th Ave, and his prices are as good as they get. Could work with you helpfully and patiently with the design, and I believe make wax mock ups If needed, he does this for engagement rings at least.
