I would highly recommend Christina at Rockin Locks in Williamsburg. At 2.5 our daughter was the same way with doctors appointments and with trying on shoes. We thought the haircut would be a disaster, but she had the time of her life! Rockin Locks is Christina’s shop and she is the only hairdresser so there is only one haircut happening at a time - this makes for a calm space. They have the usual kid-friendly haircut chair - theirs is a taxi cab. And they have an iPad with the PBS kids app pre set so they can pick something to watch while their hair is being cut. Christina will explain what she is going to do before she does it to help keep the kid calm. In addition to a lollipop they can pick out a little toy at the end. About a half hour after we left my daughter asked if she could go back and get another haircut! They book pretty far in advance, but we feel it is worth the wait.

It's not in the neighborhood but my curly haired 4 year old has been going to Christina at Rockin' Locks Salon in Williamsburg since she was 2 and she always does an amazing job.

Highly recommend Rockin' Locks Salon for Kids It's in Williamsburg so a schlep but worth it, we've been twice already and happy with both results.
