Rock Bands For Kids is a unique music program focused on the experience of being in a real band. We aim to create a space for kids to explore and perform the music they love. Weekly rehearsals at professional rehearsal studios and exciting live performances at some of NYC's coolest music venues. Bands are led by highly experienced professional musicians and educators. Above all it's about having fun and sharing music together.

ISO: Program that organizes kids into a rock band (for a 9 year old)
Rock bands for Kids is fantastic! It is run by a local Brooklyn dad and they put on shows at local venues in Brooklyn. Rehearsals are once a week in a rehearsal space in Gowanus. My daughters Love it!Shout out for Rock Bands for Kids!!!!
I wanted to give a shout out to Rock Bands for Kids. This after school program gives kids the opportunity to be in rock bands and perform in small bars/ clubs in Brooklyn. My 11 year-old has been in her band for the past 2 years and it is amazing to watch them grow as musicians and as a team. It is so fun to see all of the bands in the program play covers of songs from the 80’s and 90’s as well as songs the kids like from today. At weekly rehearsals, bands pick their songs together and have the opportunity to play different instruments. They have a band instructor that helps see their musical vision come to the stage. They have 4-5 opportunities a year to perform in real Brooklyn venues and even at block parties . This program has really helped our daughter’s confidence as a musician and performer as well as given her tools for team building within her band. It also gives parents and families the opportunity to go see a rock show with the whole family which we truly all look forward to. I am so grateful to Jon and his program, Rock Bands for Kids. Just want to send a shout out to Rock Bands for Kids. It's a great program for any kid who wants to learn how to play in a group, which requires collaboration and patience and a willingness to try new things and new music. Jon's an incredible teacher and leader who seems to really enjoy what he does--which rubs off on the kids, who seem to be having a blast. There are a few shows throughout the year for the various bands to play what they've rehearsed at some pretty cool venues across the city. So everyone gets together to cheer on the kids, and it's just really fun. As is the community of friends and parents that grows up around these events. In short, I really recommend the program. My daughter, who is eight and plays guitar, says band is her favorite thing. We plan to stick with it.Shout out for Rock Bands for Kids!!!!
