  Me and my husband and 3 year old just walked into the Right Aid on 7th Ave near Barnes and Noble an hour ago and all of us got flu shots no problem. There was no wait and the pharmacist was fast and my 3 year old didn’t even cry. We usually go to Neerguard to get flu shots, but despite the NY State governor saying pharmacies can do kids under 4 now, they still won’t do under 4 there.

  I had my daughter’s flu vaccine done at Rite Aid on 7th ave as her pediatrician didn’t have it. They will administer to age 3 and up.

  Just wanted to share that I had a BAD experience with my then-3yo at Rite Aid on 7th Ave last year. The nurse seemed nervous, and ended up sticking his arm 2-3 times. He is always very stoic with shots at the doctor's office, but he was screaming. It was awful. The nurse clearly felt bad and gave him a pile of Halloween candy afterwards. This was just our experience, but it was enough for me to say "never again" for that location. I guess the trauma was brief and our household didn't get the flu, so there's that. Both of my kids have late summer birthdays so their pediatrician gave them flu shots this year at their appointments. Sounds like there are some good options out there! I would personally skip Rite Aid.

  I got my flu shot at the Rite Aid on Smith Street; while I was there the pharmacist also vaccinated several children; all were in and out within a few minutes and not a single tear was shed. It was low key and cheerful and the social distancing and environmental hygiene were appropriate. Your child is a year older now and maybe with your encouragement can learn to think of a neighborhood pharmacy as a safe and friendly place. With ongoing “supply chain” issues, it is likely that flu vaccination , like Covid testing, will often be done in sites other than the doctors office for this year and next , and the Covid vaccine when it comes along is likely to be administered at sites set up by the various departments of health. We are lucky to have the infrastructure to deliver vaccines and testing on a larger scale; kids are making so many changes this year and can learn to see these changing boundaries as an increase in the safety net that keeps us all well.

• Where can I get a TDAP (whooping cough) vaccine?

  I had this done last week at Rite Aid in 7th Ave. Insurance covers, otherwise they said $75 I think without.
