- Fertility clinic to confirm pregnancy during IVFRMA in downtown Brooklyn did my sonograms when I did an embryo transfer in Dallas. I did not like them as a clinic when I was looking for a place to do a full round of IVF but they were good for just the monitoring. I saw them twice after a positive test and then started seeing an OB around 8-9 weeks, before you'd usually "graduate" from a clinic, which not all OBs will do. Downtown Women saw me early.
- Doctor/clinic recs for IVF with donor eggAfter experiencing secondary infertility and multiple failed rounds of IVF with my eggs, we used donor egg IVF to have our second baby in 2022 and couldn't be happier or more in love with our new baby. We used the shared fresh donor program at RMA of NYC (getting half of a donor's retrieved eggs), specifically working with Dr. Lekovich in the Brooklyn office. I highly recommend both this doctor and the clinic as a whole--their donor conception program was extremely well organized and easy to navigate and the wait time for a donor was only a few months (though I didn't have very specific criteria). The clinic found a donor for me based on physical traits and a questionnaire, and they take care of vetting all the donors and the legal stuff. They also work with Donor Egg Bank if you want to go the frozen egg route and browse various profiles online. The woman who runs the program was amazing-- so accessible and helpful, always answering my many emails right away. She will break down all the options for you including cost and what insurance covers. I had also joined the wait list for a donor match at Cornell (where I'd had some of my previous fertility treatments) and while their clinic is great too, the wait time I was given there was much longer--I have heard RMA has one of the shortest wait times of the local clinics. Note: my one regret is going with a completely anonymous donor, and I'm not sure if it's as easy to work with a known donor (or someone open to future contact) at this clinic. Start with @expectinganything on instagram and the organization Infertility Unfiltered has some great support groups!
- Doctor/clinic recs for IVF with donor eggI was happy with RMA.
- Fertility clinic adviceI used RMA as well, Dr. Kimberly Thornton in the Soho office. I liked her. I liked that she presented all my options, and the pros and cons, based on my fertility and was comfortable with whatever I wanted to. I was 40 but had great AMH and follicle count so we started with IUIs, unmedicated because I was terrified of twins. I was lucky and got pregnant after 3 IUIs. The nice thing about RMA is they have a downtown brooklyn office and you can do all your monitoring there rather than going into Manhattan if you don't need to for work. (I chose a Dr. in the Soho office as I planned this just pre-Covid when I was still working downtown). RMA strongly recommended I use California Cryobank because they used the same fertility test and they were fine (though the sibling registry has been down for months).
- Fertility clinic adviceI also used RMA. Like everyone says, it’s a bit like a factory, but I liked that. I had Dr. Jackson-Bey in Brooklyn most recently. The doctors were professional and the practice as a whole was impersonal and fit my schedule. If you haven’t already, I recommend reading “It Starts With the Egg.” The friend who recommended it to me had an AMH of 0.3 that has gone to 2.12 after following some of the guidance there. And I myself had a slightly easier time conceiving my second than my first, and I took a number of the recommended supplements. I used California Cryobank and it was a good experience as well.
- Fertility clinic adviceI've done cycles at RMA (Dr. Flisser), NYU (Drs. Berkeley and Keefe) and CCRM (Dr. Talebian). I've also interviewed with Weill Cornell (Dr. Chung). All are considered centers of excellence and set the standard in IVF, and I would highly recommend any of those doctors. RMA, NYU and Weill Cornell are high volume, and tend to feel a bit like a factory, but if you're paying out of pocket, they're probably your best bet. If money isn't an object or if you have Progyny insurance, CCRM is excellent and they provide a great experience. FertilityIQ.com provides ratings and reviews of all IVF doctors and clinics, so that's a good place to start.
- Progyny for infertility: experience/provider?I went to RMA which is known for high success rates and even assign you a financial coordinator who can help with insurance. They have offices in Manhattan and downtown Brooklyn/Brooklyn Heights, unfortunately nothing closer to Park Slope. When I started I was working in Manhattan pre-Covid so I went to their West Side office (Dr. Nazem who was not aggressive), however once Covid started, I started going to their Brooklyn office. The doctor in the Brooklyn office was very nice and if I'm still WFH for baby #2, I would probably just go to their Brooklyn office from the start. For IVF however, the retrieval and transfer are done in their East Side Manhattan Office. My friend saw Dr. Stein at RMA (West Side Office) and he seemed to take a more aggressive approach with the medication doses and only recommending 3 TIC/IUI cycles before IVF, unlike Dr. Nazem who suggested 6 (or more if I wanted) cycles before IVF.
- Re: ISO Advice for IVF clinics with great patient centered careI loved my doctor at RMA (very responsive and kind) but I hated the practice and I think she’d find the “factory like” experience similar to that at Cornell. So that’s my anti-recommendation, if that’s helpful.
- ISO Advice for IVF clinics with great patient centered careWe used RMA of New York and specifically Dr. Lucky Sekhon. She was incredible and great with explanations and very approachable. I highly recommend them and they have several offices in the city.
