  • 2018 Birth Survey

I LOVE Dr. Paka and her midwife practice. She is very calm and not pushy. Dr. Paka and the midwives are very open to different birth plans. They have also worked with a lot of doulas.

Very low-key and hands off for the most part and has a ton of expertise and "magic hands". Based on Oct 2016 birth experience

I saw Dr. Paka when the midwives weren't available. It seems that she spends the majority of her time in the office and the midwives tend to the births. That was fine with me since I was there for the midwife experience. She listened to me and took my concerns seriously. For example I was very concerned about getting the Tdap shot since I have had increasingly poor reactions to it over the years. Serious enough that I was ready to refuse it all together. She listened, talked me through some suggestions and, in the end, I had the shot with minimal side effects. I wish a doctor had listened to my concerns 20 years ago! Member notes about insurance: No insurance issues. The office does global billing at delivery. Based on a February 2016 birthing experience

REVIEW: Excellent midwife staff. Took me as a new patient at 21 weeks, when my husband and I decided that we wanted to go for a natural birth (via the Birthing Center at Roosevelt Hospital). Delivered as planned in the center with Sabine (midwife). She was amazing! INSURANCE Yes. No issues with payments.

Member Review: Dr. Paka is an honest, supportive doctor who is straight forward but approachable in nature. But what I really liked about the practice was her in-house mid-wives. They were with me every step of the way and I met equally with all three so I'd be comfortable with whomever delivered my son when the time came. They were just the right mix of medicinal and modern and natural and alternative. What I mean is that I didn't feel judged for not wanting to go all natural, but they also didn't mandate an epidural or try to force meds. They knew a lot about both ends of the spectrum to help me find a happy medium and supported my choices. Insurance details: They take all major insurances and I had some trouble with pre-certification in the beginning, but was all good after that. Review based on birth of 2014 baby

Member Review: I really liked this practice, as it was made up of 3 midwives and 1 MD. Overall, I found the midwives to be very generous in terms of time and availability. Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with GD and needed to be transferred to Dr. Paka for delivery purposes (I still had access to the midwives for appointments and phone calls). Dr. Paka was very kind and I really appreciated her taking into consideration many of my birth plan decisions. Insurance details: I did not have any issues with insurance. Tamara Belkin and Sabine Jeudy Review Date: April 2012 REVIEW: They were not the proponents of natural childbirth that I had hoped they would be. I had to fight both midwives to let me go two weeks post-due date. In addition, I found Sabine to act unprofessionally, discussing my medical details with me in public. INSURANCE ISSUES: Yes, they take insurance
  • Birth Survey 2012

Review Date: April 2012 Sabine and Tamara REVIEW: Sabine and Tamara work with Dr.Paka right across the street from St.lukes. They are young and easy going. They have a laid back personality and will help you get the birth you want and are not judgmental at all if you decide against natural birth. INSURANCE ISSUES: Yes. Never had any issues with billing.

I recently gave birth at St. Lukes-Roosevelt and our ob/gyn was Dr. Renuka Paka. Her office is right across the street from the hospital. She is wonderful and was very involved in every aspect of my pregnancy and delivery. She also has two terrific midwives, Sabine and Tamara, on her staff. Sabine delivered me (because I preferred to do natural, with a midwife) but Dr. Paka visited me during and after the delivery while I was in the hospital -- and she was in close consultation with the midwife when we ran into a few unexpected hiccups during delivery. I highly recommend her and her staff. My husband and I felt very well cared for by her and her team. (December, 2010).
