Advice needed: Potential Almond allergy in my 9 month old
We just met with a fantastic pediatric allergist. Her name is Reena Patel and she has her own practice in Long Island City but does telehealth appointments. She came highly recommended by our pediatrician.pediatric allergist
Second the recommendation for Dr. Reenal Patel. Her bedside manners and patience she showed when helping us test our son for food allergies was incredible. Her office is super organized and clean, really kid friendly and I was so appreciative of all of the time she took to answer questions without ever making us feel rushed. Right from the moment she walked in she knew how to calm our 2 year so that he wasn't anxious during the exam.pediatric allergist
We had somewhat of an allergic emergency when my 5 year old was covered in itchy hives that just wouldn’t go away and his pediatrician was at the end of her rope. We went to see Dr. Reenal Patel in Queens (https://allergymd.nyc/) because all the pediatric dermatologists in Brooklyn were either totally unresponsive or offered an appointment two weeks later. It’s a doable ride on the G train and honestly, she was a godsend. Within one visit the hives were under control and then gone within a day; she’s insanely good at connecting with kids (she has a 5 year old as well) and she’s so patient and organized with the parents. Everything she says, she jots down for the parent to keep, including diagnosis, course of action, when to do what. So helpful!!! the office is organized and friendly. We never had to wait. When my son did the skin prick test, she put on a video on her computer so he would have an easier time with the test and the waiting afterwards.Pediatric allergist
We loved Reenal Patel I took both of my children to see her for different issues. She’s wonderful! I felt very cared for, not rushed, and I had clarity re: the situations and treatment plans. We did lots of emailing w pics (of my son’s rashy skin), so as to save the extra trip to the office. I found her to be thorough and kind. Also, she’s a parent! I believe she has 2 children. Dr. Patel was in Manhattan, but a quick google search shows that she opened her own practice in LIC. I’d 110% take my children back to her if anything arises in the future5 Year Old Eczema Advice
I highly recommend Allergy and Asthma Care of New York. Both of my children saw Dr. Patel and I was extremely happy with her care. It was worth the trek to Manhattan. The office is nice and we never had much wait. We got 2 miracle creams: Hylatopic and Tetrix. Insurance doesn’t cover, so it’s pricey, but effective and worth it on our end. Dr. Patel had to send the scripts to Manhattan Apothecary or Apotheco Pharmacy, as these 2 have some kind of special relationship w the Pharmacy co. to get a discount (unlike, say, Neergaard). Both have free delivery. We had one sm skin spot that did need a wk of steroid cream, but coupled with those miracle lotions, all was finally well. We also layered (and still do) Vaseline on exposed skin when going outside in the winter. I believe Dr. Patel is going out on Family Leave imminently, but I’d still call the office, as someone is assigned to cover for her. http://allergyreliefnyc.com/Experiences with Baby Breastmilk Allergy
If you want a second opinion, I'd see either a GI or an allergist. I'm actually not sure which specialist would be better in this scenario. If you go the allergist route, I recommend the Dr. we saw, Dr. Patel. Unrelated to the CMPA, my son had an issue with eggs when he started solids. She got us all straightened out and he's good with all foods, now. http://allergyreliefnyc.com/best-pediatric-allergist-nyc/ISO Peds Allergist & Dermatologist
We had an excellent experience with Dr. Patel at Allergy and Asthma Care of NY. She was great. My son had all kinds of problematic rashes that was somehow also eczema. His stemmed from some blessedly-short-lived food issues, but his skin was a mess: face, neck, chest, back, back of the knees. I thought we’d for sure need a ped Derm along w ped Allergist. Nope. I believe scheduling was ~10 days to get in w Dr. Patel. Our midday appt started within 5 min. I loved her bedside manner. My son was a highly squirmy 7-m-old at the time and it was.. interesting. She spoke about needing to heal the skin in order to manage the food problems (basically, reverse engineer it). We got 2 scripts for expensive lotions and still love them a yr later. The scripts are $50/ea and we find it so worth it (hylatopic and tetrix). Only one of the 2 sister pharmacies can fill it (Manhattan Apothecary.. I think), but they do free home delivery. Best if all, Dr. Patel did nearly all follow-up via emailed photos of skin progress. After 1-2 wks of treatment, we weren’t at the cure place she wanted to see, so based on email pics, she wrote scripts for 2 topical steroids (just a wk of use, whew). We had one in-office follow-up 3 months later, which also started on time and was pleasant. Their website is cheesy, FYI. Best to you and your little one. http://allergyreliefnyc.com/Allergist
We see Dr. Patel and love him! He's very knowledgeable, not alarmist at all and really good with kids. He also has a lot of knowledge about eczema and allergies and was the first dr we saw who explained it to me in a way I could understand. Did you try calling the number or were you looking online? We have not had a hard time making appointments if you call the office 212-263-9700Allergist
I see him for myself and my daughter. I think he’s great. It was actually my old allergist, from Wisconsin, who looked through all the allergists, and was like: go to this one, when I was pregnant and my allergies and asthma kicked up again. He’s a really great physician, well worth the wait.Allergist
I could not recommend Dr. Patel more! Had a fabulous experience with him. He’s smart, down to earth, practical and thoughtful. Highly recommend!Allergist recommendations?
We had a really wonderful experience with Dr. Patel at Asthma and Allergy Care of New York. She fixed up my son like it was nobody’s business and he’s hive and food sensitivity-free, now. Her office appts started as on time as one could hope for a doctor. Also, she did lots of email follow-up, so we only had to return to the actual office once. In our case, Dr. Patel prescribed a cocktail of “lotions and potions,” as we affectionately call them. In order to heal the hives and sensitivity, we had to heal the skin with specialty, prescription lotions. Whatever - it worked! Plus, I liked her bedside manner.vNeed Rec for Pediatric Asthma/Allergy Specialist
I had a great experience with Dr. Patel at Allergy and Asthma Care of NY. She had us to the office once, then did the bulk of treatment via email. My son’s issues were fairly straightforward, but I still found her style to be super helpful. We did a 3-month office follow-up. http://allergyreliefnyc.com/
