  I just wanted to give another shout out to Rachel Coates, an experienced college coach who provided wonderful college advice and recommendations for my daughter. Rachel's advice and guidance led us directly to find a wonderful school which accepted my daughter and gave her a 45% merit scholarship. Rachel's kind and caring manner as well as her absolute honesty can help your son/daughter figure out what the best fit school will be and what they will have to achieve to get into it. She is straightforward about what qualifications are important and looks at the whole person to help find a place that will provide a great education and provide for a successful educational experience. She understands the pressure kids are under and knows that test scores and grades do not tell the whole story. She will maximize your child's strengths but also be realistic about what will be needed to get into that one college they seem set on getting into. Talking to Rachel early in the process can help your child take the right high school classes and participate in extra curricular activities that demonstrate interest or passion in particular areas. SAT? ACT? AP? GPA? It's a nightmare of pressure for anyone to figure out, let alone a 17 year old who is filled with wildly swinging emotions and does not know who or what they want to become. College is one of the most expensive investments we make in our children and it's worth getting help with the process to make sure your child finds the right fit school based on their abilities, needs and preferences. I am a cheapskate at heart but if school is going to cost over $300K, it's worth hiring an expert to help you make sure you and your child choose wisely. Rachel provided amazing services for all three of my children and worked with them individually so that they were invested in the process and met the deadlines she set for them. But my third child had a very unusual situation and I can honestly say that Rachel's recommendations and advice have changed my daughter's life. (October 2019)
