REVIEW: We started our daughter at Metrokids when she was a year old. Metrokids is built on a dual-language program (English and Mandarin), and the staff have all been lovely. I feel like they genuinely care for and delight in our child. Our daughter adjusted faster than we expected, and now brings us her shoes in the morning, indicating she's ready to go to school. She is consistently smiling in the photos and recently started waving goodbye to classmates at drop-off. We love that the staff provides three meals plus a snack, and that they offer so many different activities, including circle time, free play, an indoor/outdoor gym, art projects, and group games. They also got our daughter to transition to a one-nap-a-day schedule, which we were skeptical about but has actually been quite successful.; Amenities: Has outdoor space, Provides meals; What would you change? Although the Mandarin-speaking teachers are lovely, their English is generally too poor to have a conversation with them about how our child is doing. If they are the only teachers around at pickup or drop-off, we sometimes just wait until we next encounter the primary teacher, who is a native English speaker.

Location: 382 Baltic St. Brooklyn NY 11201 Type of facility: Daycare Review: Like - caring responsive, send pictures, provide meals. Don't like they move your students to different classes often because they are "ready" but really it is so they can increase class size legally once they hit a certain age. What amenities does the facility have? Has outdoor space, Has after-school options, Provides meals What would you change about the program, if anything? I would like to be able to enter the building. Very strict entry and drop off procedures. Is there anything you would like to add about how the school is handling the pandemic? very strict pandemic protocols. Lots of closures.

  • Review from the 2020–2021 Daycare, Preschool, Pre-K, and K Survey

Review: I absolutely love our daycare! Our son who is now almost 2 years old started there 9 months ago and he literally loved it from day 1. We love his teachers. He has always been excited to go to school in the mornings. It's bilingual English and Mandarin. They paint, sing songs, and play outside (they have an outdoor playground on the roof for young kids and supervise older kids at the playground across the street). He's also learned so much. He knows his ABCs, can count, shares food and toys, has tons of words, and sings songs in both English and Mandarin. They provide meals (breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner). We get daily reports on how much he eats each meal and how well he naps. There's a set nap time for the whole class. Most days we get pictures of the kids, but not always. The director is super on top of things. She's very easy to get ahold of by email or phone. COVID protocols were very strict, which was our biggest worry when we started daycare. Each class has to check-in and check-out at specific times to avoid unnecessary mixing of kids in hallways and outside. Hours are roughly M-F 8am-5pm. Facility amenities: Has outdoor space, Provides meals
  • Flexible Daycare Options in Cobble Hill?

My daughter was at Metro Kids (AKA Preschool of America) last year and loved it. I think they have part-time options.
  • Review from the 2017/2018 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

My kids both love the teachers and we've been through all the ages (Less than 1, 1, 2, 3 years old). Loving teachers who have taught my kids developmental skills and have provided a fun learning environment. About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Provides meals What would you change? Nothing. We're incredibly happy there.

Type: Daycare About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Provides meals Review: We've had a great experience here and it's the only affordable option. Our son went there from 13 months to now (just under 3 years old) and our 3 month old starts next month. Our son has only had super loving teachers and the bonus is that the kids learn Mandarin with one Mandarin speaking teacher per classroom. I've never felt worried that he wasn't cared for so although it was still super traumatic sending him off to daycare, the 2nd time round gif our daughter I feel totally confident that she'll be cared for my care providers who know what they're doing. What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? Maybe smaller class sizes?

Program: 2-Pre K Age: 1-2 years4-5 years Review: Both my children attend Pre School of America in Cobble Hill. My eldest is 5 now and started there when she was a little over 2. My youngest went at 6 months and is now nearly 2. Both my children have been very happy here. It is run like a school with different classes and kids progress through these classes as they get older. Its a dual language school so the kids have 1 American teacher and 1 Chinese teacher. The majority of the learning is play based but within a structured / school day type of routine, which i have loved. Both my kids have thrived with this approach. There is always new artwork and photos on the walls of the hallways & classrooms. There is a lot of communication with the teachers and they are always happy to accommodate your wishes whether its food related/ sleep related etc etc... Each time my eldest has transitioned to a new class the school has made a conscious effort to give her time each day leading up to the transition in the new classroom so she gets used to the new teacher/ kids. Often she new lots of the kids anyway as they integrate classes for many of the classes such as music, art, gym. I received constant feedback about how my girls are doing in class and get a daily report which gives me info about what they have read/ projects they have been doing and any stories that they know i will appreciate from the day. I wouldn't say they are overly strict but they are certainly firm and will talk to the child if they have been naughty or mean and will always make them say sorry immediately - even my 1.5 year old knows how to do this. The school offers enrichment classes every semester which are extra but they include cooking, ballet, art, piano, Spanish, Chinese, science. Overall we have been extremely happy with POA. It has prepared our 5 year old for the transition to Kindergarten and whilst she will get a shock in terms of the sheer size of her new school, POA has given her a lot of confidence both socially and also educationally. PSP note, this member previously reviewed this facility.

Length of time: Full-time Child’s Age: 3-4 years Type of facility: Privately run daycare/preschool with multiple classes and teachersThere is little/no parental involvement with the administration or running of the facility. REVIEW: Words can not describe the love the teachers feel for my child. This school is so incredibly well run. If my child has a minor injury I hear about it immediately. Communiation is excellent. He has learned so much and began to read shortly before he turned 4. The school is consistent, dependable, and has been my life line as a single mother. They serve three meals a day prepared from scratch which are included with tuition. And it's bilingual Mandarin. My kid has learned Chinese! Would you recommend? Highly recommend Would you send your child again? Absolutely
  • Review from 2013 Daycare/Preschool PSP Survey

Review date June 2013 (for 2012-2013 year) Program: older 2s-young threes Length of time: Full time Child's age: 3-4 years Review: POA-Cobble Hill, which opened last June, has been fantastic for my daughter. We have been there since October 2012. The director is involved and very responsive to the needs of families. Any issues are dealt with promptly. The tuition is far less than other preschools in the area and includes healthy meals. I receive daily reports about what my daughter has done during the day. There has been some staff turnover, but that's to be expected at a new program. Do you recommend? (Hi/Rec/DoNot) Highly recommend <<< PSP Note: this reviewer has recommended Preschool of America in the past >>>
