Pediatric ophthalmologist
We had a great experience taking our 4 month old to Dr. Furlan at Pediatric Ophthalmic Consultants. My sister and her husband having been taking their 10 year there for 9 years which is where we got the recommendation from!ISO: Optometrist recommendation in the neighbourhood
If you're looking for an eye exam, I highly recommend going to an ophthalmologist instead of an optometrist (I have a son who started wearing glasses at 1 1/2 and his prescription is super finicky). I don't know anyone in the neighborhood, but I love these folks (recommended by our pediatrician). I second this practice - Dr Erica Oltra is our doc. I actually went to college with her - she is wonderful! We are seeing her in Brooklyn in a few weeks actually for a check up exam.Pediatric ophthalmologist?
I agree both as a mother of a patient of and referral physician to pedseye.com that the group is very good. There are a few office locations in Manhattan and one in Borough Park, Brooklyn. Dr. Julie Nam is part of this group.Pediatric ophthalmologist?

Just to say we've seen Dr. Joyce Khandji at Pediatric Opthalmic Consultants. We've been to appointments in Manhattan and Brooklyn to see her. She was trying to figure out a mystery condition whereby my kid's eyelid swells up every few weeks. (After seeing various specialists and having an MRI just in case, my daughter was finally told that it's probably an edema that just happens every so often and that she'll grow out of. But Dr. K still wants to see her in Sept., a year after it first happened.) She is amazingly conscientious - not only responds to personal emails on a Sunday, but when I emailed her on Thanksgiving that the swelling had occurred again (not expecting to hear back that day!) she wrote back within five minutes. She's also been great about sending records over to the dermatologist etc that my daughter also saw about this, communicating to the allergist because his phone system is making it hard for me to reach him, and generally - she really cares about her patients!ROP check ups
Before having my son I worked at a pediatric ophthalmology practice for years called Pediatric Ophthalmic Consultants and can not recommend them enough. I am not familiar with the FA dye test but that is where I brought my son for his ROP checks. They are the best of the best. They have 3 locations: upper west side, tribeca and borough park. We had trouble finding an eye doctor in park slope that would take a child under 5 years old. Just a heads up as you are looking! I believe they need special equipment for smaller children so even if they say "pediatric" it may not be for toddlers. Long story short, we ended up going to Tribeca because they took our insurance and luckily it's worked out. We really like them. Tribeca and Brooklyn location http://www.pedseye.com/
