Just wanted to recommend Dr. Derek Lin at Park Slope eye for a kid's exam. My 5 year old son had an OT evaluation that recommended a "developmental eye exam" which is a bit more thorough than a regular vision test. My little guy is curious, active and energetic and Dr. Lin was so great keeping him engaged, explaining everything he was doing, and getting him to cooperate. My son actually had fun! And we left feeling confident that no stone was unturned.
  • ISO optician

I stopped going to Dr. Bazan many years ago after a very uncomfortable and unresolved experience. Terrible customer service.
  • ISO optician

I recommend Dr Bazan at Park Slope Eye on Union Street. He is very transparent, he walks you through what he’s doing and shows you the retina images like you’ve decribed. He and Aaron, who works there, are also just super nice people. i haven’t bought frames from them so I can’t speak to the selection but they do sell frames. They also take insurance which was important to me.
  • Contact lens ins and outs

I have been going to Park Slope Eye on Union. They are very knowledgeable about contacts and I have found their prices competitive with 1800 contacts or other online options. I appreciate that the optometrist really knows his stuff as does his office manager/receptionist.
  • Shout out to Park Slope Eye

I just want to say what a wonderful job Park Slope Eye is doing in terms of eye exams. I was the only person there and they make sure that there's not more than one person in the waiting area. They have one person behind the desk and the doctor and that's it. Everybody wear their masks properly and sanitized everything in between. If you want to try frames on, which I didn't, they set you up in a private room to do that and then they sanitize everything. I was super impressed. Not to mention I love Dr. Bazzan.
  • Eye exam for drivers license renewal

My husband did a virtual eye exam with Dr. Bazan at Park Slope Eye https://parkslopeeye.com/ It was $50 which is pricey, but he was able to do it from our apartment on the computer.
  • Recommendations for a kid-friendly eye doctor in Park Slope?

We love Park Slope Eye! Dr. Justin is informative, relaxed and clear on all options for care. Our whole family goes to the practice with some of us needing more care, but the children have had great experiences.
  • Child with wandering eyes

Check out Rima Bakhru at Park Slope Eye. She’s a developmental optometrist and will look at how your daughter is using her eyes, not just if there is structural damage. She may still refer you to an ophthalmologist but you may be able to get in quicker with her in the meantime if you want answers
  • Developmental optometrists?

My son has been to several and we prefer Dr. Rima Bakhru at Park Slope Eye on Union and 4th Avenue.
  • Developmental optometrists?

We big fans of Park Slope Eye! They're laid back, thoroughly explain things, and are just very accommodating.

We scheduled an appointment here for our 4 yo daughter on the recommendation of a friend. They are a fine medical provider. We appreciate you can schedule appointments online and email their office directly. However, they don't take many insurances - which we found this to be misleading on their website. We accept we could have done stronger due diligence before arriving. Upon learning they do not accept our insurance, we were asked to pay the copay and a $55 fee for the exam. Canceling the appointment day of costs $50 fee. Ok. They also charged us for a retinal scan machine ($39) which we only discovered after the fact when I saw the charge on the credit card and asked for a detailed invoice. Children's eyes are malleable and the Dr. couldn't get a good read on what her prescription would be. She asked us to reschedule for another appointment that would include dilation. The second appointment cost $95 out of pocket - basically a re-do of the first. It took 3 weeks to get my daughter's glasses even though they'd originally told us 1/2-2. They were also quite expensive - just over $700. I realized I accidentally gave them the wrong insurance information, and contacted them to update, and to ask if a lower copay on our real insurance would give us a credit. I learned that no, I actually still owed $89 after the doctor's discount for being out of network for that first visit. Something seemed very fishy. We had another follow-up with them to check the prescription (children's eyes take time to adjust, we're told) and were told that follow-up would cost us $126. So, we canceled. It felt like payment was a moving target - and that we weren't getting a full story here.

I was walking from one building to another on Times Square going to a meeting when the wind blew what felt like a grain of sand into my eye. Unlike a sand grain, however, it didn't wash out with water or eye drops. When I came home after suffering through what seemed like an endless work day, my husband started looking for an emergency eye clinic to take me too. He called Park Slope Eye, and even though it was already 8PM, the doctor was still in the office and stayed to see me. To make a long story short, I had a piece of steel wool stuck in my lid scratching my eye. The doctor was able to remove it, even though it was all tangled up and stuck pretty deep in the lid. He was friendly, professional and available for another emergency appointment the next day even though his schedule was full (I panicked thinking that there was another piece of it in the eye, but it was just the normal healing process taking its time) Now, a little over a week after the accident my eye is as good as new, the vision returned, and I couldn't be happier!
