  • Kids Birthday venue/room under $400?

We just had my daughter's 1st birthday at the old stone house in JJ Byrne park. It was $450 to rent for 4 hours and they supply some tables and chairs etc. you can bring whatever food/drinks/music in. It was a (relatively) affordable option and ended up being a lot of fun! We had around 40 people.

JJ Byrne, reserved table lot - Great space and pricing is $25

JJ Byrne Playground - 5th Ave Garden - We love JJ Byrne generally, and really enjoyed having our son's 3rd birthday in the 5th Ave garden. It's the perfect way to have a private space but still be at the playground for the kids to go play. The staff were great at also allowing us to have Rolie Polie Guacamole perform in the garden, which everyone at JJ enjoyed, basically!

North Garden via Old Stone House, Washington Playground, Park Slope Brooklyn: Great space to have a birthday party for toddlers and babies with limited attention span as they can wander away with parents to use the playground. Access to public bathroom.
  • Review from the 2022 Party Survey

I was able to view the space in advance and get a sense of where I wanted to set up tables, etc. They showed me where I could hang steamers, etc. It was a very ‘DIY’ event, but the staff were helpful and present.
  • First birthday location ideas

It's not a bar and you'd have to bring in your own food and drinks but the old stone house is perfect for a space that is big enough to have kids run around and the outdoor options can't be beat if weather holds.
  • Party for 40th birthday

Had my 50th at the Old Stone House -- it was fabulous.

  • Bris Venue

We did ours at the Old Stone House and it was great. It's a nice space with good seating and you can bring in your own food. And reasonably priced!

Try the old stone house. We had my daughter’s baby naming there many years ago and it fits all of your needs.
  • 2017 Review

If you don't mind bringing in your own food/drinks then I highly recommend the Old Stone House--they rent out the upstairs 2nd floor and the park picnic tables can be rented separately I think, also awesome playground outside. Had my baby shower there :) The director is awesome and very helpful!

Love having our parties here. Cost $25 and the four hour window gives you setup and cleanup time. We've done a sing along (Little Bandits) and a magic show (The Great Lerdini). Both spectacular.
  • [PSPMO] Meeting spaces

The Old Stone House has a busy calendar, but makes space available for such meetings when possible.
  • [PSPTweens] Bat mitzvah spaces

The Old Stone House! Had my 50th birthday there and it was big fun.
  • Re: Sweet Sixteen Party

The Old Stone House is great for parties with less than 75 or so. You can decorate with Christmas lights and make it look really special.
  • a great experience at Old Stone House

My in-laws were visiting from Barcelona and we took the kids to soccer practice on the fields behind JJ Byrne. After soccer we went to the playground to play and peaked into Old Stone House. We arrived without an appointment and whoever answered the door gave my in-laws a great tour and patiently shared the Old Stone House's history. (My in-laws speak no English so the storyteller had to wait for me to translate.) I am regularly amazed with the Old Stone House's innovate programs, top-notch space and overall generosity. What's so great is that there is almost always somewhere there ready to help. I'm sorry if others have had bad experiences but I thought I should share my very positive one as well. (July 2014)

We used The Old Stone House in Washington Park (JJByrne). It's a great space (and cheap!) They have chairs and some tables available for your use of u want. And if u need more space u can rent a tent. Plus you can always use the playground if babies get fussy :) September 2012

Just a word of caution - I called to book an event and they are booked until AUGUST! I will plan more in advance next time!

I've sung its praises before and I'll do it again: the Old Stone House. We had our daughter's fifth birthday party there with about 40 people. We also had a baby shower there for some friends. There aren't any organized activities, but the rental price is low enough that you could hire someone in. It's a big room, you can bring all your own food, tables and chairs provided, there are refrigerators to store food, the staff is great, a bathroom on site, and the park right outside if anyone gets restless. http://theoldstonehouse.org/space-rental/

There is an awesome art class at the old stone house afterschool.
  • Review from Birhday Party Survey, 2010

1 and 3 year old Birthday Age of Child 3 Reason for Choice: conveniently located Likes: Do it yourself situation. We just needed a space larger than our apartment. They let us us bring in decorations in advance. Very nice about space and time when not booked. We decorated and catered ourselves. Changes: Nothing Not included in the Party Package: private use of the venue (meal may have been in a private room but bulk of the party was in a shared space), invitations, food for kids, party bags, cake, Cost Per Child: 0-$10 DO you recommend? (Choices: Highly/Recommend/DoNot) Highly recommend

We have used The Olde Stone House twice as our party space. It is a DIY operation including cleanup but you get a big room, and they were very flexible about loading in supplies the day before. (Recommended October, 2010).
