    our daughter has been in the full-time (8:15am - 6pm) 2s program at Brooklyn Explorers on St. Felix, and we've been really pleased. It's a nice community and we feel great about dropping her off there every morning. Our daughter comes home showcasing art projects and jabbering about her friends and the activities they did at school. Explorers also offers 3s and 4s programs. One additional benefit: the school provides breakfast, lunch, and a snack.

    We are sort of new there - started just before the pandemic and then restarted in person recently. We can only say positive things - it has been warm, welcoming, loving and educational. They have communicated so well about the procedures around covid. I also really like that it is so diverse.

    I am posting to the list in case anyone else is interested... My son attending the Learning Garden for a preschool 101 class. It meets twice a week for two hours and is meant to be an introduction to preschool and structured play. My son had taken tons of music and soccer classes, but never actually sat with peers for circle time, etc... Since he was starting pre-k this year, I thought the class might help him transition. The class was small but well structured and I think it gave him exactly what he needed in terms of confidence and experience in a group learning setting. It was only 8 weeks, but I felt the length was appropriate for what I was looking for - and he was always excited to attend. Now that we have made the transition to all day pre-k, I can say that I do believe this class helped him transition smoothly. September 2012

    My daughter just started Preschool 101 at the Learning Garden. It is the first place we left her without a family member and she is loving it so far. Amanda, the director of the playspace and her teacher, is great! It may have helped my daughter's transition that she has gone to open play at Explorers quite a few times over the past year so she was very familiar with Amanda and knew 2 of the kids in her class before she started. However, I have seen Amanda handle kinds who are less familiar with the place or other kids around them and she is really wonderful. She had us as parents set goals for our kids. We get periodic e-mails with updates on our kids progress and there is a regular blog about the kids activities for the day. My daughter is also usually excitedly talking about her morning activities for at least a couple of hours after she gets back.     Name of Party: 3rd Birthday Address: Underhill location LIKES: He liked the space and toys they offered. What you'd change: It was okay. The staff was helpful, but not prepared for us when we arrived. The singing activity i felt was too short and the kids didn't really get the time to warm up to it. So most of the party was a big free for all in the play space, which was fine. I was glad I hadn't paid full price. Do you recommend (High Rec, Rec, Rec w/ Reservations, Do Not Rec)? Recommend

    Age of Child: 3 Likes: She got to see many sites, have a variety of experiences. What would you change? The camp is too much for a 3 year old; it should not be offered for children under 5. Would you send your child(ren) again? No Do you recommend? Recommend with reservations Do you have any other information to add? New York City Explorers is a very interesting and energetic camp, but it is not suited to the very young (under 5 or 6 years of age). The children take trips every single day and stay out the entire day. It is too exhausting for little ones (and probably even some bigger ones). Field trips 5 days per week that last from 9 or 10 am until 3:30pm, especially in hot weather, is too much for young children. And the website is misleading. It states that children rest every day and that parents may visit the camp every day, other than during rest time. This led me to believe the field trips were short, local ones just in the mornings. It turns out they are all day and there is no rest time that a parent could possibly interrupt because the children are not at the site at all until 3:30pm pick-up.

    Name of Program:2s class Full time KID AGE:2-3 years The logistics was made for working parents. 8am-6pm m-f, breakfast, lunch, and snack provided, open almost all days (not on school calendar), payments deducted from credit cards. Love the teachers. Never met calmer people. Low kid/teacher ratio. Own outdoor space and huge indoor play space. Have yoga,ballet, karate, and hip hop classes as well as different languages: mandarin, French and Spanish. Owners are very contentious of parents concerns. My daughter loves her teachers and has picked up new songs and some Chinese. My only negative is the classroom is in the basement, but they spend so much time upstairs and outside that I am ok with it. Will probably end up going next year too. Highly Recommend/Recommend or Do Not Recommend?--Highly recommend Review Date: Fall 2010

    At New York City Explorers on Underhill, which shares space with Blue Marble, you can have coffee and a bagel and watch the kids.

    NYC Explorers does allow you to pay for each individual play session, but it's really for older kids. I took my almost 11 month old there recently, and there wasn't that much to do for him because there are very few toys and no tumbling mats.
