Where to get blood drawn for 16mo old
Seconding LabFly. Super chill to do it at home, and you can request someone who has experience with kids. We had a great experience.Where to get blood drawn for 16mo old
We just had a good experience with LabFly of Northwell Health - you book through their app and they send a phlebotomist to your home. It cost about $27 for the appointment but our insurance covered the tests, and they sent results right to our pediatrician. The phlebotomist was great! She took time to chat with our son about his books and get him feeling comfortable before she did the blood draw, and she was super sensitive and gentle with him. I actually heard about it through Park Slope Parents!2 year blood test recos?
Also just used LabFly today for our 3 year old. Blippi was blaring on the tv at 915am (a usual no no in our house) and she sat on daddy’s lap and had minimal tears… much credit to blippi. Blood was drawn on first try! A far cry from our first miserable experience at quest when she was 18 months. Highly recommend! The guy that did ours today was Kirk.2 year blood test recos?
We just used LabFly yesterday (recommended in a thread several months ago). For 20 bucks, a nurse practitioner came to our house! They were very skilled at working with children (friendly, engaging) and got a blood sample on the first try. We will be using them in the future again for sure. (It was a regular blood draw, using a tiny butterfly needle. Not sure that they offer finger prick method.)2 year blood test recos?
I HUGELY recommend LabFly as well!!! It was incredible. After a terrible experience at quest with our then 18 month old, LabFly was the most easy and least dramatic/stressful when she turned 2. We will use for any future blood draws!!2 year blood test recos?
I called our pediatrician’s office for recommendations and the receptionist mentioned Lab Fly, an in home service for bloodwork by Northwell Health Labs. Once you download the Lab Fly app, you can upload the script from your pediatrician and schedule a home visit (costs $20) at your convenience. I was so anxious about it so I called the customer service line several times to ensure that the tech who came in was comfortable with toddler blood draws. I was assured that when the scheduler sees the age of the patient, they send a trained tech accordingly. Honestly, it was the best $20 we’ve spent. The tech who came in was kind and gentle with our daughter and she could sit on the couch and watch TV as a distraction while he drew her blood. The whole experience was calm and quick. What a relief! We did have to follow up with our doctor to check on the results since they were not uploaded to the app. We will definitely use the service again if we have to do another blood draw anytime soon.
