I am a repeat customer. This year I asked Nelly for help hemming my daughter's junior bridesmaid gown and tailoring my own bridesmaid gown to fit my pregnant body, because the bride's choice of bridesmaid dress didn't come in maternity sizing. Nelly's hem on my daughter's dress was not only the right length but an extraordinarily beautiful finish. For my gown, which was a cowl neck heavy satin from Birdy Grey, Nelly first advised me on what size to order based on the online listing, and then made several trips to our house to ensure the sizing was just right based on my growing waistline. Her work on the dress was invisible and perfect. I got many complements at the wedding and felt comfortable and confident in the dress. Nelly's pricing was very reasonable and I trusted her completely. Highly recommend her!
  • Nelly Agron - seamstress

I found Nelly on PSP after I needed a seamstress to help me tailor my wedding dress. I purchased the dress off the rack (it was the one!) and it was a discontinued style. The dress was in rough shape - there were some rips in the tulle, the fabric on the bottom of the train was dirty and one of the buttons was missing. Nelly made the dress look brand new - she shortened the straps, hemmed it perfectly to match the shoes I plan to wear, shortened the train to how I needed it and she took the dress in beautifully. She even replaced the pearl button that was missing. She added a bustle that was flattering and exactly what I was looking for. The process was seamless and she got all of these adjustments done quickly and within a few fittings. Nelly clearly has a passion for design and working with dresses as she has her own collection and I was lucky enough to see some of her projects in her home! She worked within my budget, which was very much appreciated. I will definitely be coming back to Nelly!

I highly recommend Nelly Agron. nelly_agron@yahoo.com 718.745.4125 She came to me and dropped off my dress after and did exquisite, invisible work for what felt like a very fair price.
  • Nelly Agron

Another glowing review for seamstress Nelly Agron. She does extraordinary work. She shortened the straps of two of my dresses, one of which had thick straps with an exposed seam at the top of the shoulder, which are thus very difficult to shorten. Nelly's work was immaculate; you would never know that she had altered the dresses, except that the straps were now a more comfortable length. Nelly also picked up and dropped off my dresses and was very nice and professional to work with. Her rates were fair and reasonable. I highly recommend her!

I recently got a coat re-lined by a seamstress recommended via PSP. Her name is Nelly nelly_agron@yahoo.com She was so sweet, worked very fast, and came to my house for both pick up and drop off!
  • Review of Nelly (Seamstress and Designer)

I hired Nelly after reading the positive reviews on PSP. She is AMAZING!!! My husband and I needed formal wear altered to attend the Grammy Awards. She was able to masterfully transform my wedding dress into a red-carpet-ready-cocktail-dress. I am so pleased with the results! She even made a pocket square for my husband's suit from the leftover fabric from my wedding dress. We love that she came to our house to do fittings and to discuss our options. She is so easy to work with and such a pleasure. Her prices are reasonable and her work is so professional and fast. We are grateful to have found her! Thank you PSP for the fantastic recommendation!

Fantastic Tailor! Men's sports jackets and dress shirts, athletic clothes, pants - you name it she knows it and will always give you an honest appraisal of what it will take to fix and how far she can push it and if it is worth it, given the state of the garment. Original hems, zipper replacement or upgrade, replacing buttons, reworking garment shape... she's great. Nellie comes to our home and makes our clothes fit (and work) better. She is a pleasure to work with and our kids love her.

I hired Nelly after reading the reviews here. I am matron of honor in an upcoming wedding, and my floor-length bridesmaid dress needed to be shortened to a below-the-knee length. I also had four other cocktail dresses that I needed taken in a little bit. Nelly was absolutely wonderful. She came to my house to pick up the dresses and then dropped them off a week later at no charge. She's soft spoken, kind, professional -- truly delightful. When she dropped the dresses off with me, I assumed she would just hand them to me and leave, but she wanted to make sure that all of them fit properly before accepting my money. Well, they did -- the dresses fit WONDERFULLY and are all very flattering. It is clear she knows a lot about style (she is a dress designer herself). But she wasn't 100% happy with one aspect of the work herself -- she had added spaghetti straps to one of the dresses and she thought that they were a little loose -- so she offered to take the dress back and fix it and bring it back in another week's time. She is a true perfectionist, which is exactly what you want from a seamstress. I don't know if I can comment much about her rates, as it's been a long time since I've used a seamstress, but her prices seemed good for the work she was doing, which was quite delicate. I trust Nelly completely and will be hiring her again.

I found Nelly two months ago on PSP after reading the positive reviews. My husband had bought a custom tailored suit with vest in Asia and the measurements were off, resulting in an extremely tight fitting suit. The jacket was too tight around the back, chest, shoulders and arms, the sleeves were too short, the pants were too tight around the waist and thighs, and the vest was too tight around the waist. This suit needed some serious work and would be a challenge for even the most experienced tailor! With my husband to be a groomsman in my sister’s wedding less than two weeks away and given the quality of the suit, it was worth taking the chance based on the PSP recommendations. Nelly came to our home within a few days of calling her, took several measurements and a week later brought back a perfectly fitting suit! It was truly amazing. This was how the suit was intended to fit with no indication that the suit had been altered. Our friends and family at the wedding who knew the story were incredibly impressed with how nicely the suit fit. Ever since, we’ve given everything to Nelly…dresses, gowns, pants, jeans, shorts, men’s shirts, hems, holes, patches, buttons, you name it. Excellent work every time. On top of it all, as the previous post mentioned, Nelly is a wonderfully kind and soft-spoken woman, a true pleasure. Her prices are very reasonable, on par with those of dry cleaners, but work of much higher quality. As Nelly is a master and teacher of her craft, she even gave me and my husband a lesson on the skilled way to sew a button…from the kindness of her own heart and at no charge. Nelly is a true find and we only hope she doesn’t become too busy to take our calls!

I have a WONDERFUL seamstress to recommend. Nellie is a costume designer and creator who works with Juliard and teaches at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology). She's also the most soft-spoken, sweet woman ever. And she COMES TO YOUR HOUSE. Her prices are reasonable, rivaling the local shops. She has hemmed jeans (preserving original finished edge), athletic pants (stretch is HARD to shorten), and recently did work on 3 different styles of buttondown shirts for my husband, who is a tall skinny dude and off-the-rack even "fitted" shirts look like tents on him. They're now perfectly proportioned and amazing - each style needing a different type of alteration based on its original cut and style. She's worked on his suit pants and retacked the elastic band in some maternity jeans of mine. She hemmed the curtains in my bedroom. In short, there is nothing I would not trust her with. ellie has begun to sell her own lines of portfolio bags and hand-beaded jewelry as well, and they're beautiful and reasonably priced. I have an amazing necklace from her. You can see her items at lanellee.com!

I wanted to recommend Nellie a seamstress and designer. She does very precise and beautiful alterations. She teaches sewing at several colleges and schools. She will come to your home for pick up and when finished deliver them back. She has done both big jobs for me (significantly altering a skirt for me) to little jobs (sewing on buttons). And her prices are very fair, especially when compared to a dry cleaner. I have no affiliation with her other than I think she does a great job. (Recommended 1/10)
