  • Dentist who takes MBF insurance

we’ve been seeing Dr Nathaniel Sasson for years and really like him. He’s on 9th st and 6th ave. He takes Healthplex and has always referred me to great specialists who also take MBF when Ive needed one
  • ISO: local dentist (for adult)

My whole family has been going to Dr. Sasson on 9th and 6th Ave. His partner Dr. Bruce Lum is good too. Super nice guys. Not sure if they are taking new patients.
  • 2018 Review

We've been seeing Dr. Nathaniel Sasson on 9th St and 6th Ave for years and really like him. He doesn't usually handle complicated procedures like extractions or root canals but when we've needed things like that he's always referred us to excellent specialists who also take Healthplex!
  • Guardian Dental recommendations?

Alas, Dr. Sasson is not taking new patients. I agree that he is wonderful! I discovered this when I sent friends to the office.
  • Guardian Dental recommendations?

I second the recommendation for Dr. Sasson. He treats kids at their level without talking down to them. He’s no nonsense but at the same time warm and friendly. However, he doesn’t have a treasure trove of toys and stickers, so if you’re looking for more of that kind of experience you should go somewhere else. I myself don’t like doctors (I had lots of negative experiences) and I’ve loved Sasson).
  • Guardian Dental recommendations?

We have Guardian and use Dr Sasson on 9th Street and 6th Avenue and love his calm, conservative approach to dentistry. When my daughter had her first cavity and was frightened to have him repair it he pulled me aside and said that he wasn't going to do the procedure that day unless my daughter agreed to it because there was no need to traumatize her and we could try again on another day. To his credit, he talked her down and she allowed him to do it. I think the respect he shows for frightened kids is admirable!
  • shout out for Dr. Nathaniel Sasson

I tried making an appointment with Dr Sasson, after receiving some recommendations from this group. I was told he wasn't accepting new patients. They wanted to refer me over to his new partner or assistant.
  • shout out for Dr. Nathaniel Sasson

I second the shout out for Dr. Sasson. My family has been seeing him for pretty much 10 years (the adults) and from their very first dental appointments to now 3rd and 5th grades (the boys). He fills kids' cavities in the blink of an eye--before they realize something different is happening, it's over--and he won't allow any discomfort. I have a great memory of an appointment when the boys were maybe 5 and 6: He gave each of them one of those things that shoots water into your mouth and gave them a few seconds to soak each other! He recently added a collection of jaws from different animal skeletons, for those who find those things cool and not scary (otherwise they're high up on a shelf out of sight). And he's really patient and happy to show you the computer imaging from the x-rays and describe exactly what's going on. He's a PSP, too; his kids are college age, but they were raised here--I've had some good chats with him about parenting, actually! And an important note--he takes our city government employees' insurance, which might mean he takes a range of plans too.
  • shout out for Dr. Nathaniel Sasson

We had our family dentist appoint today with Dr. Sasson and it was filled with so much joy that I feel compelled to write a quick note. Dr. Sasson starts seeing patients at 3 years old. He is through, funny and has a magically way of putting patience at ease. My husband had some bad dentist experiences and was skeptical and my children were nervous. Everyone left smiling and my children wanted to know if they could go back to the dentist again next week.
  • Re: Dentist?

We love Dr. Nathaniel Sasson on 9th Street just below 6th Avenue.
  • Re: Dentist?

I second Sasson. He’s on the conservative side which means that he’s more reluctant to call deep genetic groves cavaties (see this NYTimes article he recommended to me: http://nyti.ms/1lHuMWn) and while he will let you know when you’re slacking, he keeps up the latest and greatest. (His Coney Island office actually got taken out by Hurricance Sandy). Anyway, he’s a nice guy (runs in the park almost every day so I see him there sometimes), and he’s good with my kids too.
  • Re: Dentist?

Unfortunately, Dr. Sasson has stopped accepting new patients. I had to get a special dispensation for the office to make an appointment for my 17-year-old daughter. His officemate, Dr. Lum, takes new patients and I have only heard great things about him.

  • Re: Pediatric Dentist or Dentist for whole family

I love dr. Sasson too. Our whole family goes to him. I used a pediatric dentist for our first child but with our second she just started with dr. Sasson at a slightly later age than I started dental visits with the first. Can't remember at what age though-I'm thinking 3. Maybe 4.
  • Re: Pediatric Dentist or Dentist for whole family

Not sure about what insurance he takes (though he took both 1199 NBF and Aetna at different times from my family), but my husband and I both really like Dr. Nathaniel Sasson (on 9th St near 6th Ave). I know he sees kids also, though my son is still too young, so I would be curious what others who have brought their kids to him have to say. But from his manner I would expect him to be great with kiddos too.

My family and I are so pleased with the dental care we received from Dr Nathanial Sasson (9th Street Dental Associates, 370 9th Street, 718-965-9823) He was great with my kids, very efficient and personable. The visit was for routine care and cleaning. He gave us the best cleaning ever, and recommended some specialist. His fees were more than reasonable. We found him through this website and good not be happier.
  • Review from 2011 PSP Dentist Survey

Review Feb.2011 I think Dr. Sasson is a great dentist and he's fabulous with children. INSURANCE: Guardian - covers cleaning every 6 months; his office takes it and we've had no problems
  • Review from 2011 PSP Dentist Survey

Review Feb.2011 He's fantastic with kids. Chats with them and makes them comfortable. His initial information sheet asks what your child is into. My son wrote skateboarding. Dr. Sasson took the time to takes us to the basement and show my son his electric scooter that he rides to work each day. He is full of information, and happy to share it. The one thing is he does a fast cleaning and checking. Sometimes I wonder how he could be acurate if he goes that fast. But so far my son has had no teeth problems and is relaxed about visiting Dr. Sasson. So that's half the battle. INSURANCE: We've had United Health Care and Aetna and had no problems.
  • Review from 2011 PSP Dentist Survey

Review Feb.2011 Dr. Sasson is straightforward and prices are reasonable. INSURANCE: None for the kids, Guardian for the parents.

I'd heartily recommend Nathanial Sasson (9th Street Dental Associates, 370 9th Street, 718-965-9823). He's a lovely guy, a fine dentist who explains what he's doing really well, and unlike my previous dentist does not ask for a lot of money above what he gets from the insurance company. (Don't know if he takes United, but I believe he takes most plans.) My wife and I have both had very good experiences with him. I bet our son will too, as Sasson obviously likes kids and there's a lot of material about kids' dentistry around their office. At the moment, though, our boy doesn't have teeth, so the pleasures of modern dentistry are still ahead of him. But I'll be happy to take him to Sasson when the time comes. (January, 2011)
