What month and year was your child born? June 2022 Review: This class was recommended to me by my provider, Park Slope Midwives. We really would have preferred an in-person option, but when we took the class (in May 2022), they were still emerging from COVID measures and didn't have a physical location for the class yet. The information offered in the class felt pretty basic for me as the birthing person (I didn't learn that much that was new outside of my prior prep / research), but it was a great general overview for my husband and was a good amount of time for the price. It was also helpful to hear the instructor speak specifically to practices used in the NY area hospitals where the class attendees were birthing.Review from the 2021 Birthing Experience Survey

My partner and I completed the modern birthing virtual one day intensive yesterday and found it useful. The teachers were very flexible and amenable to questions and very familiar with Methodist birthing center / practices etc.. which was great since we plan on delivering there and they aren’t doing tours or anything due to Covid. There were only 5 other couples on the call so the class size was good and we all exchanged info afterwards. Hope that’s helpful!Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey

I took this class and thought it was great. It was only one day, but I felt that between the class and doing some of my own reading I had all the info I needed. Since I was going to be giving birth with Park Slope Midwives, I liked that I was learning practical info about what to expect from the midwives and from Methodist Hospital, versus hearing about some methods of birthing that might not have been an option at Methodist.Review submitted via the 2016 Birth Survey: Chilbirth Classes
Modern Birth This class is offered by the midwives at Park Slope Midwives, but is also open to the general public. I thought it was just the right information, and just the right length-- it's only one day, but I felt it covered everything I needed. Some of the information I already knew from books I read, but it was great to have my husband hear it all right along with me. I found the class particularly useful since the information was specifically geared toward those giving birth at Methodist with Park Slope Midwives, ie. they didn't describe lots of birth plan options that aren't available at Methodist.
