We are at Midwood Montessori and have been very impressed with the curriculum, teachers and their Covid safety. It’s a lovely school, though a ways away from Cortelyou.Elemental Arts Montessori?
Our son goes to Midwood Montessori on Bedford and Glenwood. It's a lovely team and our son (he's 3) LOVES going there.Review from the 2019 PSP Daycare, Preschool Survey
My son has thrived at this Montessori program! DETAILS: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hoursReview from the 2018/2019 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey
We love the Montessori way of teaching, it is very much led by the child and develops their passion for learning. We also really like the way the different age children all interact with one another and help each other. The teachers are wonderful and the school itself is in a beautiful converted Victorian house in Midwood My son (currently Pre-K) is excited to go to school everyday, he loves his teachers and especially loves the after-school activities the school offers. He really enjoys the art room and brings home projects every week. The Montessori method of teaching is very intuitive and he's already learning to read and write simple words. We highly recommend this school! About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hoursReview from the 2017/2018 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey
We can’t speak highly enough about this fantastic school. The children are loved, their minds are engaged and their fine motor skills are consciously developed through Montessori designed activities. They learn about everything under the sun and they are encouraged to be the best they can be, all while having a blast with music, creative arts, play and real learning of reading, writing and math. My son was a hand full when he first started - he was not fully potty trained (although he should have been) and basically could not be contained! Constantly climbing over everything, grabbing, hitting, etc. Fast forward three years later, he is finishing his kindergarten year - his final year - and he is a happy, active, curious 6 year old scamp (still a bit mischievous!) and just so proud of everything he has learned and accomplished. We are so sad to leave this wonderful school. Highly recommended! About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours, Downstairs cafeteria What would you change? They need to update technologically - they still rely heavily on paper correspondence. I also wish they had more pictures or updates for the parents.(no subject)
—What year(s) does your review cover? Multiple years (including 2008-2009) —How old is/was your child(ren) when they attended the preschool/daycare/playgroup? 2-3 years; 3-4 years; 4-5 years; older than 5 —Review of experience? Excellent experience for my 2 girls. I have been very happy and wouldn't have put them anywhere else. This is a 5-day, full- or half-time program. The social and pre-academic program is superb. Kids learn pre-reading and math skills, cooperation in a group, independent learning, keeping order, following routine, being kind and respectful, and a zillion other things we all should have learned in kindergarten! They also have music weekly and a full-time art teacher. Art is a fun vehicle for learning fine motor skills, eye-hand coordination, etc. and is not exceptionally creative. Some parents would like the kids to get more outdoor time, which is limited especially in inclement weather. Kids enjoy the program and go at their own pace with the pre-academics. The school is very diverse ethnically, racially, and religiously. Kids must be 2 years, 9 months to start. It is a 3 year program including Kindergarten. Some teachers have been there for many years, and all teachers are dedicated, warm, caring people. Their energy is calm and enduring. Really such a lovely school. A true gem in Brooklyn! —Do you recommend? Highly recommend —Extra piece of advice? Spend some time getting to know as much as you can about your various options. Spend some time with the director and in the facility. (2009 Day Care/ Preschool/PlayGroup Review)(no subject)
