  • Re: ISO Pelvic Floor Therapist

I had a great experience with Michelle at Danu Physical Therapy in Gowanus. All 1:1 in a spa-like setting, which was nicer than I needed but also kind of a delight for such a personal level of PT. She doesn’t take insurance so it was an investment, but I felt better after 6ish sessions (and I still do the quick stretches she assigned me twice a day, which help a lot).
  • Review from the Spring 2023 Birthing Survey

Michele McGurk at Danu Physical therapy for visceral manipulation and pelvic floor/prenatal and postpartum PT.
  • Postpartum care referrals?

I highly recommend Michelle McGurk at Danu PT on Carroll street if you need any postpartum physical therapy. Full disclosure, I had a massive tear and some resulting prolapse after my vbac and she was an absolute magician. Can not say enough wonderful things about her work.
  • Symphysis pubis dysfunction pain in pregnancy - recommendations?

Michele McGurk at Danu PT helped me immensely with my severe symphysis and pubic separation during pregnancy. She is a PT, craniosacral and intuitive healer. She does a lot of internal work but is very professional above all else. I saw her weekly my entire pregnancy, i was essentially on bed rest my pain was so terrible, and she gave me a lot of relief and advised me post-partum as well. She has a great table-side manner, and is constantly undergoing more training and learning on Pelvic Floor dysfunction, traveling (pre-covid) to study under internationally renowned experts etc. i truly consider her one of the leading experts in the field. She is in Gowanus.
  • Pelvic floor therapy recs?

I’m seeing Michelle at Danu Physical Therapy in Gowanus. Incredibly knowledgeable, gentle and effective. She doesn’t take insurance but you can bill back for out of network. I found her through PSP- she was amongst the pelvic floor therapists with the most reviews.
  • Looking for a PT rec for pregnancy sacroiliac joint pain

I had this SO bad during my second pregnancy. Although the relief was only temporary because I only managed to get one massage, I recommend Ynez at Melt Massage in Fort Greene. She was so great. Probably if you follow her advice better than I did or get regular massages the relief will last longer. Either way, it’s a massage so can’t go wrong. Fair warning it took about 2 weeks to completely clear post-partum but it did clear up for me.

  • Review for Michelle McGurk

I have been going to Michelle McGurk for 9 months due to injuries sustained during a vBac (third degree tear with subsequent prolapse) and she is absolutely brilliant. She has a warm, calm demeanor about her that immediately puts you at ease. Michelle is quite knowledgable about post partum and visceral manipulation which is still a relatively new field. She is constantly going to seminars and workshops to learn the absolute latest techniques which gave me so much confidence in using her and her method of treatment. I also found that with her style, I had immediate relief and results after each session. Every time I felt the improvement. She also assisted in my diastisis and insomnia which were just extras on top of the post partum issues. She was always on time and spent the time that she needed to with me, I never felt rushed. I have "graduated" but will miss going to see her as it was a calm, relaxing time in my day.
  • [PSPBeingFit] Looking for a Post Partum PT for Knee and Diastases

I just wrapped up a 10-month PT stint with Michelle McGurk and have only wonderful things to say about her and her practice (Danu PT).
  • Review submitted via the PSP Birth Survey

Michele Mcgurk pt, Rachel Welch for post natal workout including pelvic floor. Based on a March 2017 birthing experience
  • Post-natal physical therapy for diastasis/other issues

Michele McGurk is an awesome PT who has a lot of experience with pelvic floor and diastasis rehab. Her office is on Carroll & 3rd Av. They are both really great therapists!
  • Review of Michele McGurk, PT

Michelle is just one of those extraordinary people who is really gifted at what she does and seems to be passionate about her work as well. She is a physical therapist who specializes in women's health and there are just a handful of people in the city with the particular skill sets that Michelle possesses. I saw her a couple of years ago for a chronic pain issue before and during my first pregnancy but I know she also works with post natal issues such as diastasis and with women trying to get pregnant. In addition to being a talented PT she also happens to be kind, compassionate and professional. I was impressed that she was always seeking more training and learning new skills. I'm fairly in tune with my own body but she had this amazing ability to read what was wrong or out of balance and I always left her office feeling better. Even though my particular chronic pain problem has thankfully been resolved I do sometimes wish I still had PT sessions with her because my whole body always felt in complete balance after a session with her. When I saw her she was working in Manhattan but she has relocated her practice to Park Slope.
