Postpartum Caregiver: Natasha Dillihunt- postpartum doula Review: She was great! So useful to have someone calming and comforting in my home right after the baby was born. She helped with so many things in the house, and my baby loved to be held by her. I felt I learned a lot of tips and tricks through her as well. But mostly she was a wonderful presence to have in those early days and helped a lot (set up nursery, show me how to use the pump, how to use a carrier, give baby a bath etc.) Any advice for people considering hiring a postpartum caregiver? My post partum caregiver/doula was excellent and was able to help in whatever ways I needed at the time. I had a night nurse as well and that did not go well- I thought I'd want to get some rest right away but I was a nervous wreck having my three day old baby in a room with someone else at night-- I ended up sleeping even less because I was so anxious! I recommend mtg in person beforehand if possible to also get a sense of the vibe, and maybe only booking one time instead of multiple times to see if you even like the service.

What month and year was your child born? October 2022 Review: Very good instructor! Very thorough and humorous as well. She clearly really cares about the people she works with and wanting to impart her knowledge. It was hard at times to be on zoom for so many hours at a time but there was a lot to learn and she makes it interesting.

What month and year was your child born? May 2022 Review: Leigh's virtual class was so excellent. It was intense - four three hour classes over four weeks (we took it from 32-36 weeks) but it really prepped us for everything. Leigh is also so funny and matter of fact about everything. Her work as a doula makes her uniquely positioned to provide this class and she gives you excellent coping techniques to get through labor. She designs the class to build upon each other - starting with how your body gives birth, non-medicated coping techniques, hospital interventions and medicated techniques, as well as breastfeeding and baby care. She wants your partner to be there, too, and actively engages you throughout the class. We really wanted an in person class but no one was offering longer in person classes. To be honest, this was such an excellent class that being able to be in the comfort of your home really made a difference because we didn't have to travel to a class.
  • Virtual birthing classes advice - Due Feb 2022

I gave birth in December and took the virtual labor & birth and fourth trimester classes with Leigh Kader. She is amazing!! Really can’t say enough about how compassionate, knowledgeable, and fun she is.

Loved Leigh’s class! It was four Mondays in a row, for 3 hours each (which was a little intense), but the class was invaluable to me.

Childbirth instructor: Leigh Kader Great! Lots of helpful information given by a human instructor who knew she was dealing with first time mums and dads. Now she does her course online.
  • Review from the 2021 Birthing Experience Survey

Leigh's childbirth class was so wonderful and helpful, even over Zoom. She has a magnetic personality and genuinely cares about your experience. She has moved to New Mexico though, so not sure what will become of her class in the future, but would recommend it for the time being.

[Leigh was] AMAZING! What an incredible guide and teacher.

Review for Leigh Kader Hill: Great, so helpful and nice!
  • Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey

AMAZING virtual birth prep class. We did the 5 part series over zoom (Leigh is no longer in NYC) and Leigh was not only informative, she was funny, dynamic and super caring. She answered all our questions, was super available between classes over email, and sent us a ton of resources and information to make sure we felt as prepared and as confident as could be. HIGHLY recommend!!
  • Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey

I used Marni for both of my births and I told her I was on the fence about using her again for my second since my first labor was so quick. But man am I glad she was there. She had absolutely everything I needed and said all the right things, and is pretty much the only reason I didn't get an epidural 20 minutes before I gave birth (nothing against the epidural at all - but would be silly to get it and basically have it kick in after labor was done). She was a great coach, and a great advocate.
  • Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey

My partner and I took Leigh’s childbirth preparation class as well as worked with her as our (remote) doula just as the COVID-19 chaos was starting. She shares so much useful information during the class in a really digestible, interactive, and fun way - we learned a ton but it never felt like too much. We really valued her breadth of experience; she was ready with an answer to, and often first-hand knowledge about, any question that came at her.
  • Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey

We appreciated Leigh’s honest, practical, and open-minded approach to childbirth - there are so many opinions out there about what’s “right”, and Leigh offers science-based information, pros, and cons in a non-judgemental way, and supports you to make the best decision for your unique situation. We felt completely supported by Leigh from early on when we hoped for a birth with minimal interventions, all the way through to the end when we ended up with basically every intervention possible! Even though she wasn’t able to be there with us in person, she was a calming presence through FaceTime and was available to us at any hour as we made decisions, along with our midwives, about how to proceed through a series of unexpected challenges. We had a fantastic experience working with Leigh and highly recommend her to others!
  • Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey

Most of my class was online because of Covid (we had the first session in person before everything shut down), but Leigh was able to pivot to doing it online seamlessly. Her class is informative and fun. My husband and I learned a lot. We weren’t sure about doing an extended multi week course but were happy we did — all that information would have been hard to take in in one shot.
  • Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey

Leigh is a fantastic instructor. Our classes were supposed to be in-person but due to covid, we moved online. Leigh handled that transition extremely well. Each class had a theme - ex stages of labor, being at the hospital, etc. Leigh had slideshows and talked us through every aspect of childbirth. She assigned a few videos to watch, which we then discussed as a class. She provided a ton of resources after every class, including pain coping strategies, positions for labor, breastfeeding, etc, which I used for reference again and again. I felt so much more knowledgable after taking her 6-week class. I would highly, highly recommend!
  • Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey

Leigh is absolutely fantastic, and I could not have had such a successful and positive labor experience without her. She is supportive, relaxed, strong (which is so important for those counter pressure moves), and knowledgeable. I believe Leigh is moving out of state so she may not be available for doula services in NYC, but she also teaches online childbirthing classes, which I would highly recommend! My husband and I took a 6-week class, and it was extremely helpful! I learned so much about how to advocate for myself and think through what I wanted for my birth experience and why.
  • Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey

Amazing. Took so much fear and unknown out of the process. Helped us navigate the hospital setting. Warm, but practical. We also took a terrific birthing/newborn class with her.
  • Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey

Leigh Kader and Natasha Dillahunt of Kindoulas.com - Absolutely outstanding. They were both incredibly nurturing, informative, gentle, kind, emotionally supportive, communicative. I learned so much from them from nursing, pumping, swaddling. They dropped off our laundry, held the baby while we slept, reorganized rooms to make them more efficient, cleaned our kitchen, anything and everything.
  • Postpartum Doula Recommendations

Leigh Hill Kader is the MOST amazing doula ever! She was our birth doula and post partum doula. She helped in the post partum weeks in ways we never imagined. A visit from Leigh was something I always looked forward to because I was truly cared for, physically and emotionally. She has a way to anticipate what you need before you say it or even think it. Her suggestions really worked for how WE live. And she helped us navigate the big transition of parenthood. Most important to us was that she showed us HOW to care for our baby. She gave us the tools and confidence. How she shares soooo much knowledge in a very organic way is a real art form. She’s equal parts baby whisper and mother-to-the-new-mother. If her question to “how can I help today?” was met with a tired, blank stare and an “I don’t know” shrug she would make the most of her time. Laundry, Preparing healthy meals, help organize, tidy up, make the bed, watch our baby while we napped, check in to ask how I was feeling, show me how to breastfeed AND how my partner can help. She can teach everything from how to change a diaper, to how to use a wrap for baby wearing, to discuss ‘does this look normal?’, to ‘why can’t I get the position right when I breastfeed?’, to recommending baby books with enough detail you know what one book has to offer versus another. She is such a gift to the Brooklyn community!
  • 2019 Birth Survey

Leigh & Marni are an amazing doula team. They made my husband and I feel incredibly comfortable and prepared for our birth. When we found out we had to have a scheduled c-section, they were very supportive and were able to shift their focus to the immediate post-partum work, while still being there for the procedure. Highly recommend!
  • 2019 Birth Survey

Ahhh! Leigh is amazing. A total life force. She has so much experience, and has a really special way of imparting her knowledge. She's smart, fun, very real and accessible. I bet she's an incredible doula.
  • 2019 Birth Survey

Leigh was really wonderful. We took her childbirth class and I wanted to hire her as my doula after the first one. (I hadn't previously been interested in hiring a doula and it didn't work out because she couldn't take on another client.) Weeks after our class was over, she talked to me for half an hour about what to expect when my ob-gyn wanted to induce labor, which I really appreciated. I highly highly recommend her.
  • Birthing Class

We liked the class we took with Leah Kader last time around (2016) -- http://www.kindoulas.com/classes. I found the 5-session model was a nice way for my partner and I to take in the information, and her teaching style was clear, reassuring, and comprehensive. She does a one-day intensive, too. :) Our class was tiny (just one other couple) but I think it's usually a reasonable size with 5-6 families.
  • Experienced birth doula

If there is only one bit of advice I can give to anyone expecting - it is to hire an experienced birth doula. But my SPECIFIC bit of advice is to hire Leigh Kader and Marni Deutsch because they are so knowledgeable, experienced, and truly gifted at comforting women during labor and in the months prior. They will help you mentally and physically cope during labor in ways you never imagined and provide you with a good birth experience no matter what goes (or doesn’t go) as planned. I had a great birth because Leigh was our doula. Leigh was so good, in fact, my OB even commented about her in my postpartum appointments that my doula was so good and knowledgeable that she asked for my doula’s name. Yep, my OB was that impressed. I ended up having an unplanned cesarean after nearly 24 hours of active labor, and know my cesarean was 100% necessary because of what the Ob AND Leigh were able to explain about what was happening and how my baby and I had progressed. Without Leigh there I would have always wondered if the cesarean was necessary. (Remember that your OB may not be the one who delivers your baby when it’s “go time”). For those asking yourself, why would I need a doula? It’s important to know that for a hospital birth, the current practice that nurses and doctors must follow is for everyone to actively labor alone in your room with the occasional check-ins until it’s time to push. All of that “alone time” is hard work. You want an expert in the room, a doula, to physically and mentally helps you (and your partner) cope with pain and take it a step at a time can only be done by an experienced doula. Even with a very caring partner who reads birth partner books and actively participates in birthing class, no partner can do it alone, even with preparation. In summary, selecting a doula is just as important as selecting your OB/Midwife so be sure to get one you feel comfortable with. My husband and I feel that hiring Leigh and Marni was one of the best decisions we have ever made.

Wonderful, knowledgeable - she's caring and love her energy!
  • 2018 Birth Survey

Leigh Kader is the absolute BEST. We loved the class. She is so informative and has great delivery. She's funny, sensitive and smart. We felt as prepared as we could after her class.
  • 2018 Birth Survey

THE BEST. Marni was pivotal to both of our successful and JOYFUL births. She is the perfect blend of laid back and super on it. She keeps things light with humor, and has the experience needed to make you feel supported and in great hands. With #1 three years ago, she helped me break my water naturally while at the hospital and saved me from further medical intervention. With #2, for which I barely made it in time to the hospital (my own doing!), Marni somehow managed to meet us at the house JUST in time to get us to the hospital, and when the baby started to crown in the hospital lobby, SHE was the one who helped get me into labor position, had my wife successfully catch the baby, noticed the cord around her neck, and had the good sense to tuck the baby into my tanktop for safekeeping and warmth. Seriously, call Marni. She knows all.

Very informative and warm child education class. Lee was extremely accessible for questions and advice. Based on a August 2017 birthing experience.

I highly recommend Leigh's class. We wanted something that met less often than the Bradley method but more than a weekend intensive. Her course is 5 weeks or so, covers so much but in bite-sized chunks, really helped us prepare for the unmedicated birth I was interested in AND the induction I ended up with. :) I'm pretty sure she caps it at 5 couples which means it's personalized and super relaxed. Definitely a great option! Based on July 2016 birth experience

Loved Leigh's childbirth class. It was engaging, informative and did a good job preparing us for all the different possibilities during labor and delivery. I left the class feeling like "I can do this"....and a few months later I did! Based on September 2016 birth experience
  • Review submitted via the PSP Birth Survey

Leigh was the best. She helped us through the entire experience, making me feel more supported and more comfortable during labor. I would definitely recommend her as she is very experienced and very likeable. Based on 01/2017 birth experience
  • Review submitted via the PSP Birth Survey

We went back and forth about hiring and post-partum doula and hands down it was one of the best decisions we made! Natasha took such great care of us, so that we could take care of our newborn son. She knew what we needed - cooked healthy amazing food, helped with laundry and was able to give great advice as we settled in with a newborn. Knowing Natasha was there, made those first few weeks much more manageable. Based on September 2016 birth experience

And I would also recommend our doula, Leigh Hill Kader, as someone who would support you in this endeavor as well. You can find contact info for both via google search. Good luck!

Type: Childbirth Class Review: We loved Leigh's class! It met once a week for five weeks, and each class was three hours. We became great friends with the other couples in the class (we all still see each other regularly) and felt like Leigh really created a great environment. She presented the class in a totally nonjudgmental way (no pressure on drugs vs no drugs, or what type of birth experience people were going for) and had a great sense of humor while imparting a lot of information. Insurance: Our class was not covered. No idea if she takes insurance. Based on a June 2015 birth

Type: Childbirth, breastfeeding and newborn care Review: Leigh (who is a doula) was an awesome instructor. She is funny and friendly, and has a wonderful way of transmitting info and telling stories so you remember the key info, including little practical details about area hospitals that she knows because of her work as a doula. My husband and I felt very supported and prepared (as prepared as you can feel!) we absolutely loved Leigh and trusted her advice above all else. She was caring and personal -such a cheerleader for us and everyone in the class. Her class felt like much more than just standard CBE. It mentally and emotionally prepared us to be parents in the most wonderful way. Insurance: No coverage, but the price was more than reasonable for the level of personal service, thought and care put into this very small, intimate class. Based on a November 2015 birth

Review: Marni works with another doula, Leigh Kader. You meet with both of them and whichever is available when you go into labor is your doula. Meeting both of them was amazing, we felt like we were having dinner with friends. Leigh taught the childbirth class we took and was awesome. Marni ended up being our doula and I could not have made it though labor without her. She was incredible. From hand feeding me to helping me vocalize in the most efficient way to taking pictures while holding a leg she did everything we could possibly have asked of her. She even went out to get me a rare roast beef sandwich and a beer after my daughter was born. We met with her again after the birth and she ended up feeding me again while helping me breastfeed. We've kept in touch with both of them and hope to continue to. I can't recommend the two of them more. Insurance: No. Based on a 2015 birth
