Pediatric ophthalmologist?
Dr. Grace Liu at Mark Steele’s practice.Pediatric Ophthalmologist & Orthopedic recommendations
We have also been going to Dr. Mark Steele and recently switched to another doctor in the practice who takes insurance in Tribeca They have been monitoring my daughter's Ptosis.ISO: Eye Doctor for Children
We love Dr Furlan of Pediatric Ophthalmic Consultants. (212) 981-9800 pedseye.com Dr. Furlan is gentle and friendly and makes children feel at ease. My daughter has been going to him for 7 years, since she was barely 2. Dr Steele is also wonderful, but he doesn’t take our insurance. We recently went for a check-up and I was very impressed by their Covid related precautions. It felt very safe. They have 3 locations. (I much prefer their manhattan locations to the Brooklyn one)ISO: Pediatric ophthalmologist
I heartily recommend pediatric ophthalmologist Emily Ceisler, who has offices in Manhattan and Brooklyn.Summary of recs for pediatric ophthalmologists
My now 22 month daughter, XXX, had eye surgery for a 4th nerve palsy (a type of strabismis) this past December, which was performed by Dr. Furlan at Pediatric Ophthalmic Group or associates (I can't remember the exact name of the practice). We see dr. Furlan at the Boro Park office (www.pedseye.com). We have been very happy with the care and treatment that XXX has been getting there. Prior to having the surgery, XXX had a very significant head tilt which was being caused by an imbalance in her eyes from the 4th nerve palsy. Dr furlan quickly diagnosed her eye issue after my husband and I had received a mistaken diagnosis that XXX's head tilt was caused by torticollis (muscle tightening) and that she just needed physical therapy to reverse it. Since recovering from the surgery to correct her eyes, she now holds her head midline the vast majority of the time and I don't think an outside observer would be able to tell that she previously had any type of head tilt. When we were looking for names of other surgeons to see for a second opinion of dr. Furlan's initial diagnosis, several people recommended dr. Campolatarro. Several other people also reported having had very positive experiences with the Pediatric ophthalmic group. dr. Steele, the founder of the practice was described by someone as a "rock star" in the field. I understand though, that he doesn't take insurance.Re: Pediatric Opthamologist
Dr. Emily Ceisler is fantastic. She has offices in Bklyn and on the Upper West Side. I took my son to her Manhattan office, as it would have taken many months to get an appt in Bklyn. (She's only there one day a week, I think.) I took my then 9 month old for a plugged tear duct. Her baby skills were great, she was warm, informative, thorough, the entire office worked well - I really can't speak highly enough of the whole experience, in spite of the fact that it took much longer than I thought it would. (Everyone actually apologized for any waiting I had to do!) Her office takes Oxford. I don't have her phone number in front of me, but if you can't find her in the phone book, call Pediatric Associates - they referred me. pediatric opthalmic associates - or whatnot - michael steele, julie nam, etc - great practice. Boro park which I don't love but main office upper west side and top notch. I can send contact info if you like. I got a lot of referrals before going to them and have been impressed.Re: children's opthamologist ?
My son has been wearing glasses since he was 2 (he's now 4) and we've been very happy with Dr. Furlan, who's part of the Pediatric Ophthalmic Consultants group. They have offices in Tribeca, the UWS, and Boro Park. I've also heard great things about Dr. Steele, in the same practice. In my experience, the Boro Park office has always been very busy and I've had long wait times there, but things have moved much more quickly at the Tribeca office.Re: Pediatric opthamologist - Have you heard of these people?
We saw Dr. Louis Furlan who is in Mark Steele's group in Tribeca (Perdiatric Opthamological Partners, I think is the name on Duane or Reade). He was fantastic, the office staff was wonderful, and the wait time was about 20-30 minutes. Loved him.
