Recommendation for OBGYN for VBAC/ CSECTION
I also delivered two babies with Dr. Benedetto! I quite like her, and she has very low c-section rates, from what I know. She is a stickler about weight gain in pregnancy, and her manner is kind of old school hierarchical-- it didn't bother me because I was happy to have an efficient and skilled doctor and I wanted to put things in her hands. However! She now delivers at Lenox Hill, as of this spring.Recommendation for OBGYN for VBAC/ CSECTION
My OBGYN for both babies was Dr Benedetto at NYMidtown OBGYN. She is very VBAC friendly and has a reputation for a low C-section rate. She took on a big risk with me because my situation was somewhat complicated but I felt I was in safe hands. She has quite a dynamic character and was strict with me about weight gain etc in order to have the best chance at a vaginal birth.. some people may not click with that, but I would recommend her hands down to anyone looking to avoid another c-section.2019 Birth Survey
Dr. Benedetto is a no-nonsense, old-school practitioner. She's very direct so may not always come off as sensitive but I always felt she had my best interest in mind. I felt completely comfortable and trusted her and her practice during the birthing process.2019 Birth Survey
This was my second birth with this OBGYN. I chose her because I had previous surgery to my uterus but wanted a vaginal birth anyway. Her C-section rate is very low. She took on my case and I delivered vaginally despite risk factors (surgery, baby big for gestational age,..).Review submitted via the 2016 Birth Survey
She's not warm, and for prenatal care I often felt a little dismissed. Her obsession with weight gain is odd. However, I give her 100% credit for my successful VBAC of a ten pound, six ounce baby. I was permitted to go into labor naturally (overdue). During labor, the interventions were discussed very reasonably. She coached the baby out of me like a boss - adjusting my epidural and providing a great pep talk when I needed it. My follow-up care was also great. And like another poster, I also was a patient of NY Midtown OBGYN. Dr. Anzai delivered my daughter safely and naturally as I wanted. Neither he nor his wife/partner in the practice Dr. Benedetto have the warmest bedside manner (in my opinion) but clinically they seem very gifted and non-alarmist.[ANONYMOUS] OBs/Midwives and doulas for VBAC
I went with Dr Benedetto from NY Midtown Obgyn after having an open myomectomy on my uterus less than a year before getting pregnant (a similar situation to vbac). Dr Benedetto was great. She never promised it to me with a 100% certainty of course but she was committed to making a go of it as long as everything went well. I liked her approach and in the end I got the natural birth my surgeon said I'd never have!Review submitted by 2016 Birth Survey
Dr. Benedetto at NY Midtown OBGYN was amazing. She is straightforward and direct, but caring. She told me exactly what I needed to hear and was there every step of the way even though I was seeing the practice. In the beginning she told me not to listen to others who had opinions because she was the doctor and they weren't and as we went through pregnancy, she was there to assuage any fears I had because of some person on the street. The practice overall has a low c section rate and she tried to ensure that I didn't gain too much weight and need a c section. In the end, we didn't have a choice as my baby was breach, but she tried everything to make sure that both baby and Mama were healthy. Member notes about insurance: NY Midtown OBGYN took my insurance as long as I went to see the practice, but there are only 4 doctors so I was always going to see someone familiar. That said Dr. Benedetto did not take insurance if you just want to see her exclusively. That said all of my appointments were with her and our c section was also with her. She made every effort to be with me every step of the way even though I was seeing the practice. Based on a February 2016 birthing experienceReview submitted via 2015 Birth Survey
REVIEW: This was my second unmedicated, natural, vaginal birth. I had a midwife with hopes of birthing at the birthing center the first time around (negative experience resulting in pitocin, episiotomy and 4th degree tear). From the first meeting with Dr. Benedetto, she was completely aligned with what I wanted: no interventions unless my baby or I was at serious risk. She advocated for me throughout my pregnancy, referring me to physical therapy, suggesting ways to keep me from tearing again. I'll say she's very strong minded and means business but I really feel she cares about her patients and has a strong attention to detail. She also is very strict with weight gain. I gained 30lbs and got a few speeches about not gaining too much weight (I do agree with the theory but it was difficult for me not to gain that much). In the end, she didn't deliver my son because she was not on call. Dr. Anzai, of the same practice (and actually her husband) did. He was just as amazing. Performed perineal massage during pushing, allowed me to push at my own pace. He was so calm, he put me at ease during my very fast and intense labor. I did tear but I believe he helped keep the tearing at a minimum. I can't say enough good things about these doctors. INSURANCE They took my insurance. I had the option also to go out of network if I wanted to be an exclusive patient of Dr. Benedetto, in which case she'd guarantee her attendance at the birth. Based on a December 2015 birth
