The great thing about this school is that it is very afro-centric. The teaching of African American culture is instilled in each academic lesson. The school isn't closed during the traditional holidays of the regular school calendar (ie Columbus day) but on black solidarity day or Marcus Garvey's birthday. The tuition is one set fee for the month no matter how many weeks are in that month. There are enrichment courses like French and chess which are included. There are additional enrichment courses like drumming, violin, yoga, martial arts that are an additional fee. The school offers trips monthly. The children have homework that reinforce the lessons taught at school. The teachers are warm but stern. My daughter loves it there. About the facility: Has afterschool options, Has early morning hours, Provides meals, There is a park across the street and down the block from the school. What would you change? Bigger space. The waitlist to get into the school is really long. So if they were able to expand that would be helpful.
