Review from the 2020 Birthing Experience Survey
Lisa is amazing. I cannot say enough good things about her and her process.2018 Birth Survey
She’s the best! Smart, laid back, funny, practical, a teammate. Highly recommend.Review submitted via the 2016 Birth Survey
Lisa was fabulous, pragmatic, caring, and well versed in all types of pain management techniques - including hypnobirthing. I highly recommend her. Member notes about insurance: I didn't use insurance to cover. Based on a March 2016 birthing experience(no subject)
I want to highly recommend my doula, Lisa Kundreskas for anyone who might be looking to add a supportive, passionate, caring, fun, warm and reliable person to their birth team. I recently gave birth to my first baby at the end of May. After a lot of discussion and hesitation, my husband and I decided to hire a doula and we're both so glad we found Lisa Kundreskas when we did. She's in high demand, so we are grateful we got her! I was lucky enough to have hired Lisa early on in my pregnancy. We formed a quick bond and I felt very supported by her throughout my second and third trimesters. She has a sixth sense about her -- she always seemed to know when I needed a pick-me-up that only a woman who had been in my shoes could give. She sent a ton of useful articles and links throughout my pregnancy and always went above and beyond. After one particularly rough prenatal appointment, Lisa sensed that I was upset and made an extra trip to Park Slope to grab a coffee and chat. (This 'appointment' was totally out of the scope of work that we had agreed to). I wound up going into labor a week after my due date, and Lisa was an amazing support throughout each loooong day leading up to and after my due date. When I finally went into labor, Lisa was in the area ASAP, but let my husband and I work through things alone until we were ready to have her join us. Once she arrived, both my husband and I were more comfortable, knowing that we were with a trusted new friend who could guide us through this new experience. Lisa knew the hospital staff at Methodist (where I delivered), was very familiar with all of the midwives in the practice and had a knack for knowing exactly when to suggest alternate/new positions or tricks for coping with contractions as they got stronger and came faster. (She also knew when to crack a joke to lighten the mood). After 25 hours of labor, I had to have an emergency c-section. Lisa wasn't allowed in the OR, but she stayed 'til after the procedure into the wee hours and while my husband tended the baby, Lisa tended me. She also took some amazing pics of our hour-old baby that we never would've gotten without her. I know that my husband was unsure initially as to whether or not we needed a doula. But now, he's uber grateful that we had Lisa with us. Her knowledge and calm approach was calming to him during the long, stressful hours of helping me cope with labor. And helping us both cope with all of the interventions that I had hoped not to have, but needed. (Breaking water, epidural, pitocin, surgery...) After the baby's birth, Lisa wrote up his birth story -- she had taken detailed notes throughout the labor and delivery process. My memory of everything was hazy at best and I had no sense of time, so Lisa's written up birth story is priceless to us. If you're looking for a great doula, you'll find one in Lisa Kundreskas. I'd like to recommend Lisa Kundreskas as a doula. With my second child, I knew I needed a support person, but wanted a much more positive experience with the next doula. (For my first child, I'd had a very experienced doula with over 15 years experience and was not very impressed) Lisa was recommended by my midwife at Park Slope Midwives. She just started working as a doula in the last few years as she had decided she has a passion for it. Since Lisa is new and trying to develop more clients, her fees are on the low side and very reasonable. Lisa went over my goals for the labor and we kept in touch throughout the pregnancy. She was the most positive and excited person throughout the birth. She really supported me during a really fast but tough labor. If you are into having a fast labor, Lisa has a track record with them. My husband thought she was great, 10 times better than the first doula. That is saying a lot coming from him. (July 2011)
