"As a first time mother, hiring Lily was the BEST decision my husband and I made in preparation for the labor and delivery of our daughter. Her knowledge and support before, during and after delivery were invaluable to us, and we could not have gotten through it all without her. In our initial consult, Lily took the time to listen and understand our expectations, goals and birth plan. She provided practical suggestions on how to prepare for the big day, a number of pain management and coping strategies for early labor (which were key when my contractions started), and followed up with helpful evidence based links to better prepare and educate us. We did not have time to take a birthing class, but Lily shared everything we needed to know about the birthing process, and nothing we didn't. As the due date approached, Lily proactively kept us apprised of her whereabouts so we would always know when/how to reach her. When my water broke, she was in regular contact to check on the progression of my labor and recommended exercises to encourage the start of my contractions so I would not need to be induced by medication. When she joined me in my apartment, her extensive knowledge of the labor process led to a timely decision on when to head to the hospital. Any later, and I would have given birth at home or in a taxi. She was prepared for any eventuality. When the triage rooms at the hospital were full, and nurses and doctors were difficult to find due to the ward being especially busy, her presence is what kept us calm and reassured. Lily also helped preserve our personal advocacy when confronted with urgent decisions by the medical staff, giving us space to make decisions without undue pressure. I truly believe that due to her guidance and support, I was able to have a birth unassisted by pain medication that I had set as my personal goal, and my recovery has been better for it. We highly recommend Lily and her services to all."
