  • Looking for the best black and white cookies in NYC

Leske's Bakery on Fifth Avenue in Bay Ridge (76-77) is pretty darn good; they are more like black and white cookie-cakes than just cookies (thick and frosted), and their other stuff is great too like an apple cobbler type thing and their donuts.
  • Help! Can anyone recommend a place that does inexpensive 'Minecraft' themed birthday cakes asap!

Leske's Bakery, an old-school Polish bakery at 76/5 area in the store/restaurant corridor of bay ridge in the 70's, does that type of thing and it's pretty high quality and fairly affordable. (We used them for those types of cakes and they did a great job, until the kid's interest in theme birthday cakes waned as he moved into the teen years)
  • Where to buy Swedish/Scandinavian goodies in Brooklyn

I responded to the OP directly, but just in case no one knows, Leske's on 5th Ave in Bay Ridge still does Scandinavian stuff. I was there a few days ago and the person in front of me had a massive Kransekake. Leske's is also known for their outstanding donuts and black & white cookies. One of the real gems of Brooklyn.
