  • Daycare Recs for our area (PLG)

We’re happy at Lefferts Gardens Childcare on Midwood.

Review: Lefferts Gardens Childcare (LGC) provides a warm, loving, safe, and stimulating environment for our daughter, who is currently 25 months old. She has attended there for the past year. Each morning, she charges in the door and throws herself into the arms of her caregivers. They greet her with hugs and affectionate nicknames. When I pick her up, she is calm and beaming – happy to see me, but also visibly at home in her surroundings, with her classmates and community there. Some things I love about this daycare: -There’s a very low caretaker-to-child ratio, and very little turnover among the four full-time staff members. -These caretakers are all women with many years of experience. They sing to and with the children, feed them, hold them, play with them… they take real pride in their work, and visible joy in being with children. -The structure of the daily schedule ensures that children have time for stories, time for rest, and time for unstructured play with each other. The staff also craft special experiences for them – dances, “block” parties, leaf painting, chalk drawing, etc. -The daycare is housed in a sweet townhouse with a homey interior – wood floors, bay window, fireplace (not active, but still cute) -- and a lovely backyard and garden where they children play on nice days. Amenities: Has outdoor space, Has after-school options What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? This is mostly a COVID-safety thing, but I would love to be able to come inside the facility and visit more often. Maybe an open house?
