IN-PERSON Couples Therapist?
Laura Young is great and has an office near Columbus circle for in-person sessions. We picked her based on her rave reviews here on PSP, after interviewing several folks with different approaches (gottman, etc). We liked her very simple approach/philosophy of teaching how to improve communication. In the sessions, you learn how to communicate in a way that avoids making either person feel defensive or resentful (aka “safe communication”). Then you practice on your own until you master the technique. We’ve found it to be really helpful.Manhattan-based marriage counselor
I highly recommend Laura Young for marriage counseling. She’s based in Manhattan but has been doing remote sessions during the pandemic - I'm not sure whether she is doing in-person again. I believe she works on a sliding scale, but she charges us $375 a session.
